Cissette, A Complete Guide to the Madame Alexander Doll
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.
After collecting the 9 to 10 inch vintage Madame Alexander Cissette dolls for some years now, I was thrilled to buy this wonderful book. This is the first book devoted solely to Cissette. It is not just a picture book, but one that contains lots of description and history of Cissette, Madame Alexander, and the M.A. doll company.
In her Forward, Dr. Merod tells about a nostalgic Christmas when, as a little girl, she received her first Cissette doll. This sets the tone for the book by telling the reader that this book was written with lots of love. The pictures and detailed descriptions of Cissette dolls, their clothing, accessories, and furniture are excellent. The interesting thing that Dr. Merod did was to take the many black and white M.A. catalog pictures of Cissette dolls and their furniture and re-create the scenes with her own dolls in color, showing them side by side. Dr. Merod ends her book with close-up pictures of Cissette hats, shoes, and other accessories. If you collect the vintage Madame Alexander Cissette, this book is a must-have!
