The Cisco 12000 Series Modular Gigabit Ethernet Line Card (Modular GbE) provides customer-configurable multiple-port GbE versatility, enabling service providers to cost-effectively scale their distribution networks and data centers to higher traffic capacities in order to deliver sophisticated, higher value services without increasing complexity. The Modular GbE Line Card offers a Baseboard with one fixed GbE port and the flexibility to configure up to three 3-Port Gigabit Ethernet port adapters (EPAs), allowing a service provider to configure this line card with up to 10 total GbE ports. This flexibility enables service providers to purchase only the number of EPAs necessary to support today's deployment requirements, knowing they can tie future EPA purchases to increased customer revenue as demand warrants.
