Cinema Paradiso (DVD, 2003, Contains Both the Extended and Original Theatrical Versions)

This is an excellent movie for film lovers. Definately take the time to watch the three hour version because it is worth every minute. For those of you who do not know what this is about, it is a story of a boy who grows up in a small town without his father. He and the projectionist at the theater become buddies and through this common interests, Salvatore falls in love with the movies. If you watch the three hour version then you'll see the whole romantic relationship as well. This movie is excellent as you share the joys and triumphs to the sorrows of life. Artistically done, fantastic movie.

At the risk of having my bid outflanked because of this review, I can only say that Cinema Paradiso is about the most beautiful film I've ever seen. It's hard to describe, other than to say "beautiful!"
Of course, the fact that it was directed by the brilliant Guiseppe Tornatore, with the musical score supplied by the incomparable Ennio Morriocone, adds a bit. But, the story itself and the wonderful actors....
What an incredible movie! So touching! So pure! Why can't Americans make movies like this?
I just plain love this film (in case you hadn't noticed).

Italy again wins the best foreign language film in the Academy. This could easily beat the American flick. The acting, story and music are all refreshing which Hollywood can't claim. Screenwriters in the REST of the world seem to continue to come up with new material, not the same story told in many different scenerios.

I enjoyed the film because it was not a predictable love story. It also gave me a glimpse into another culture.

this is a fantastic movie........no special effects.......no fancy stuff.....and yet a simple movie that touches the soul !!!!!!!!you will not regret getting it.the music is also awesome!!!!!!!!!!! joe.
