Cigar City Mafia by Scott M. Deitche (2004, Hardcover)

I bought this book because I saw an interview with the author on the History Channel and I wanted to hear what he had to say about Mafia ties to the Kennedy assasination. It was a good read. I think it must be self-published, though. I say that because I noted one place where the author used the expression "for all intensive purposes". Even the correct "for all intents and purposes" is seldom allowed by professional editors. Overall, though, the book is much better than most self published stuff and is a wealth of topical information that will lead the curious reader to more in depth sources on the subject.

We just moved to Tampa in 2006. With all of the movies about Good Fellas, Sopranos, Wise Guys and such, it was hard to pass up a book specifically about the area that we are currently living in. It's very interesting to learn the history of the area. I was also quite surprised to find many of the landmarks that are still a large part of Tampa, St. Pete and Ybor City.

I was born and raised in Tampa ,Florida and lived there till 1969 when My husband and I decided that we needed to take our 4 children to a safer and drug fee enviorment. Being from Tampa I know a lot of the people in this book. I even had Mr. Traficante as a customer in our Flower Shop. It is a true non-fiction book. and I recommand it highly. I am waiting for book two
