The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardobe.

Being a fan and having read the books five or six times through, I fancy myself somewhat of an authority on the Chronicals Of Narnia, but I was a little disappointed in the movie when I saw it in the theater. Having seen it again, most of that disappointment was dispelled, although one main concern still remains.
My initial concern was that since Lewis and Tolkien were best of friends, that the movie would somewhat match LOTR in caliber and trueness to form. Granted, the movie has 'kids' in it, not adults and mythical creatures (until they are in Narnia at least) like LOTR, but this series is not very friendly as far as being numbed at all towards the harsh things in life. The books are fairly straight forward, and the battles are just that, battles, not something to be taken lightly. And that is how I felt about the main battle here, almost like it was given a lesser IQ to appeal to younger kids, rather than the fan base and people who expected a little more.
I would rate this movie Excellent if it weren't for the lack of a really good battle scene ala LOTR. I am keenly looking forward to the next movie in the series, Prince Caspian, as it looks to promise more of a true keeping to the books in rawness and savagery.
