This movie is simply charming from beginning to end.
The opening scene brings viewers smack into the life of a single mom at wartime, trying to escape their home from bombing & gunfire. At first I thought I was in the wrong movie theatre.
From there the movie takes a quick turn into fantasyland, and the special effects are awesome.
I love this movie because it gives the viewer the feeling that he has escaped from the ordinary world for a few hours, and we are right alongside those kids in a strange land, feeling their emotions, fighting the battles along the way.
I am really glad that I saw this on the big screen when it first came out, and of course it became a "had to have" in my library of movies at home.
