Christy - The Complete Series (DVD, 2007, 4-Disc Set; Dual Side)

This DVD series is wonderful for those who are tired of the movies that are full of violence, sex and bad language. I found it to be refreshing to watch and not have to worry about my child seeing things that are inappropriate for her.
I loved the narration and character development of the story and was asking for more by the time I watched the last episode. It was accurate in its portrayal of the "mountain" people and their superstitions and their "not taking to outsiders". Christy's fight to gain their respect, teach their children, and find romance is worth watching again and again.
I decided to purchase this series because I wanted a movie that portrayed wholesome qualities while being entertaining...a combination that is a true rarity in this day and age! I encourage others who are tired of the violence, sex and offensive language to watch this series!

This series is good for family viewing and true to the way of life in Appalachia.
Christy was a bit bold in dealing with the men folk, which is a stretch of the way it is in real life, but it is a movie! The only down side to the entire series is the way it ends...it definitely needed to finish up loose ends. The scenery is beautiful and the children are a delight to get to "know" throughout the series.

A top notch production and our family recommends it to others to own and a good addition to the other classic movies in the cabinet!

I love it because it shows life in my area back at the turn of the century. I also lliked the moral and spiritual content. I just hate that the series wasn't longer.

I had seen a couple of Christy episodes before and wanted to see more. I enjoyed the whole series. I thought the characters were very good in this movie, and it was colorful. I wish they would have made more episodes. It is a wholesome, family series that shows struggles and faults of people, how some overcame and some didn't. It is all the more interesting knowing this is a true story. Joan

I liked this show when it originally aired,and they don't show reruns anymore. It's a nice series for the family, and shows people actually helping each other- what a great show! If there is anything I dislike it's that the series ended so son. My Ebay experience with this item was excellent.

Great storyline! My 12yr daughter and I had a wonderful "Christy Marathon" weekend. Nice that they are a bit slower, and less intense/action-packed than most movies. Very good Christian values and yet not overly religious or 'preachy'.

I used to watch it when I was a girl and it was on T.V. And I thought I'd like my daughter to love it, also. My daughter is only 3 years old and already is asking to watch it.
Most of all, I love the morals and the christianity that the shows put into practic, but I also love the simplisity and faith of the back woods people. The scenary is fabuluos, as well.
I highly recomend Christy to family's who are looking for something decent to watch together.

My friend has the complete set and let me view them during recuperation time from surgery. Ever since then, I've been wanted to purchase them but to expensive to buy individually. When I noticed the complete set in DVD form and only on two DVD's plus the price I immediately ordered. I wanted the set to go in my library for future viewing.
Some of the best, clean movies made. My granddaughter and I spent some quality time together this summer watching. They rank up there with Anne of Green Gables, etc. Just hated when the last movie ended. Wanted the series to continue.

I didn't buy this but my mom bought it for me from Ebay. Most of the episodes were very wholesome and I enjoyed them very much. But I must say I got very upset and disgusted at the very last episode "The Road Home." There's enough in this world to pollute people's minds with things of pornography, but I was so shocked and upset with this episode especially because most of them were clean and then the end one was absolutely horrible! Even though it was not EXACTLY pornography it sends those type of thoughts, very inappropriate thoughts, family threatening thoughts to the people who watch it. I want to warn those who care deeply about bringing into their homes only wholesome things. Most were pretty clean but I would not recommend you watching that particular episode.

I love this series. I remember it from TV and had taped some of the shows and would periodically watch them. Now I have them all. Based on the book by Catherine Marshall. This series is about her Mother's experiences as a young missionary/teacher in the hills of Tennessee. I had read the book as a teenager and re-read it again. Even though I was familiar with the story the movies hold a lot of surprises. The series sometimes embellishes some of the events from the book. But, I like Kellie Martin. She is believable in the story as Christy. Tyne Daly (Alice)does a good job as the strong missionary woman who is the backbone of the work. Of course the two love interests (the Preacher and the Doctor)keep the series interesting. You never know which one she is goinig to fall for. She is a innocent naive girl who has a lot of growing up to do. And she does in the hills of Tennessee. The movies is full of homey characters. They look just like they were snatched up from the past. They look as if they live poorly in the backwoods. They are dirty and have bad teeth. They did a good job of making the people and their surroundings believable. The story is full of hope and faith. Very heart warming. Good family entertainment. The people of Cutter Gap become your friends...Birdseye...Fairlight...Lundy...Little Burl...Montie...Opal...and Ruby Mae.

The setting is beautiful, acting is great although at times the intensity of the drama fades. This is wholesome entertainment for the whole family.

I was loaned a couple of VHS and watched them and really liked the bases of the story and where it was located. I wanted to watch all the series and I'm
really glad that I bought the complete series, both my husband and I have enjoyed them.

I am rating this before even watching it. This was a great series for the entire family. I am glad that someone had the forsight to make it available.

This was an excellent purchase which gave us many hours of enjoyment. I never watched the series when it was actually on but had the opportunity to watch a made for TV movie later on. A few of the actors and actresses where the same but it did spark my interest. The show was based on a book which I have now purchased and plan to read shortly. I strongly suggest the series, made for TV movies, and the book for anyone interested in people. Real people who carved out a life with less than favorable conditions.

This series is very likely the best we have ever purchased on Ebay. It compares favorably to the "Anne of Green Gables" series and the "Love Comes Softly" series (both are excellent). The Christy series is quite original, very interesting, and appropriate for family viewing. It appeals to young children as well as adults. The language is clean, the plots interesting, and the different episodes blend together nicely. It presents a wonderful story of growing up, dealing with traditional values, discrimination against "outsiders" as well as race, and a myriad of other topics which remain relevant today although the setting is the 1850s. Features wonderful strongly-developed characters and adorable children. The value you get from purchasing the whole series is far greater than purchasing individual movies. We are only regret that the series just ran for a single year. We give "Christy" our highest endorsement. If you purchase this set you will not be sorry!

We loved the series, each episode left us with a little more understanding and taught my grandchildren a new perspective and things I wouldn't have been able to teach in such a warm and welcoming way. Would highly recommend for all ages.

Christy the story of a young women who loves God and wants to help in the Smokey Mts by teaching. the things she found were people so poor they could keep well. Children with no shoe. The school which was a mission had no book or equipment. She also found two men the preacher and the Doctor who both fell in love with her. who was she to marry? There is also a Quaker Missionary who is a wonderful help to the people and Christy.
the dislike was at the end they leave you hanging. but I have read the book and the Arthor also left you hanging. I was one of my favorite books as a teen and as a adult.

It is a beautiful story of courage and hope with good morals and a respect for Gods' word the Bible. I already own it on VHS but appreciate having a 2nd copy in the DVD format, easier to use and store. The acting is excellent and all the episodes are truly insiring.

These series are awesome!! It's good Christian series with some clean decent romance. Too bad it went off the air.

this is a great series to watch if you like little house on the prarie or love comes softly series its worth watching the storys are great i do wish they would have ran the series even longer the last episode leaves you hanging but they did finish the story many years later so this is not the end if you want to know how it ends you will have to buy them there are three more dvds that finish this series you can find them on ebay you just have to look i thought that it was worth it to see how it all ends i hope this info helps the last three dvds are christy return to cutter ,christy a new beginning 1 and 2 i found them all on ebay

This is a Great Movie. It takes a very long time to watch all of it, but is worth watching. I did not like how it ended. I will have to watch it again to see if i can make out the end of it. A Great movie for the whole Family.
