Christmas by Mannheim Steamroller (CD, Aug-2005, American Gramaphone Records)

When I first heard this music playing in a retail store, I had to stop and listen. The music sounded familiar, but it was like nothing I had ever heard before!
Yes, these were the Christmas melodies that I had heard every year for as long as I can remember, but the arrangement was rich, and full, with a variety of instruments. It sounded like classical music, but when did classical music become "toe-tapping" music? When did the recorder, a toy piano, and castanets become classical instruments?
I bought the album immediately and have bought several more copies to give to friends. Everyone that I've shared this with loves it. It makes a great Christmas gift.
The album is virtually all instrumental. "Good King Wenceslas" contains several bars of vocals as the music fades. Otherwise, you might not even recognize the song.
This music stays alive and fresh even when the tradional Christmas music begins to wear on your nerves. You will enjoy this music year round, and you'll also enjoy the reactions of your friends when they hear it.

I bought this CD and Fresh Aire (by the same group) to replace my aging cassette versions which can no longer be played in my car.

The most Christmasy music ever. This cd has the best arrangement of Silent Night I've ever heard. I bought it just for that song but I enjoy the whole thing. Nothing gets you in the mood quicker than Mannhaim Steamroller.

This is great music, a contemporary, exciting rendition of some old favorites. I bought it because I already had one Steamroller Christmas CD and needed another.

Excellent music! instrumentals and high tech sounds blend in beautifully with Traditional Christmas songs. Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller, hats off to you again with this fabulous CD!

This has a great version of Deck The Halls. Mannheim Steanroller is very listenable and festive for the Christmas music season.

If you like the other arrangements of Chip Davis you will enjoy this collection. The man is brilliant. Stille Nacht on this CD touches your soul when truly enjoyed. All the arrangements have the ability to bring the Christmas spirit alive. I purchased this CD since my first one became scratched for friends wanting to borrow it.

They are the most wonderful group and their music is so relaxing I could listen to it all the time as I do everynight to go to bed on whether it be the Christmas ones at that time of season or other CD's they have out. Their music is not loud or overbearing like some of the groups out there today. If you would ever get the chance to see them live one must because I had the opportunity to see them in concert last Christmas and let me tell you one cannot describe how it was it was so great you would have to see for youself how wonderful of a show they put on.

Mannheim Steamroller is a mostly instrumental group but their Christmas albums are the best. This Album is great. The Christmas music overlaps with other cds but they are so beautiful you will not mind the duplication.

My wife and I had the cassette tape of this CD. We had been wanting to purchase if to add to our Christmas collection. This year was it. We love music. We have listened to Mannheim Steamroller for almost 10 years. We find the music soothing and relaxing. I doubt that anyone could make a bad choice with this CD.
