Great Classic Gone from TV, but Kermit is Also Gone!

More than 15 years ago I recorded Jim Henson's "The Christmas Toy" off TV during one of it's very rare airings, and have been looking forward to a DVD release ever since. Now finally one has arrived and well worth the asking price!
This is a classic Christmas tale with all the Muppet warmth and humor from the Henson era, however the original opening and closing (with Kermit the Frog as a make-shift Santa) has been excised from this version, with the only visible remnant being soot and ash falling from the chimney in the opening seconds in the toy room (which is how Kermit makes his exit in the original by climbing up the Chimney ala St. Nick himself).
Why is Kermit gone, you may ask? The reason is simple; this is not a Disney DVD release and as Disney owns the most famous Muppet characters, including Kermit, the copyright laws have sent our little green friend packing in this version, which is a shame, however with only that one regret the remainder of the story (totally unaffected by the absence of Kermit who only offered a self-evident opening monologue) is complete, very well done and truly a great video and absolutely worth owning!
