If you are have seen the movie over and over and over yet still watch it every Christmas, you will love the extra dvd that comes with the anniversary edition. I do not watch the movie during the year and I didn't have to get the movie to watch it as I usually turn on TBS and let it play from Christmas eve through Christmas night, turning the channel occasionally just for something different. It is the additional dvd that I want to see and will play during an interval this Christmas.
It is worth a very few extra dollars, and I mean only a few to get the anniversary edition so that you can see the 'inside' story with interviews, highlights and more.
I found my version by searching in the ebay stores for BIN with the lowest shipping and I got my package for under $15. Far less than retail.
I am looking forward to the additional stories of "A Christmas Story" this year and for many seasons to come.
