HDCD re-mastering or big mistake?

We are longtime followers of Mannheim Steamroller, ever since Fresh Aire I in fact, owners of record albums and CD's including all four of the Christmas CDs. So we were happy to see a "new" Christmas CD by Mannheim Steamroller entitled "Christmas Celebration".
What a disappointment! It is a re-issue of previous material, with no indication of this fact except the copyright dates in small print. And even worse, it is badly distorted, at least through the third song where we stopped listening.
It was tried on two high quality systems with the same results, probably 5-10% THD. Perhaps this distortion is due to the HDCD mastering, but regardless, this is one to avoid.

This is a beautiful album. It has some favorites and some surprises. This is an instrumental with a twist. If you like Trans Siberian Railroad you will like Mannheim Steamroller.

Mannheim Christmas 2005 Collection

This CD is a typical genius jazz/classical arrangement of well known Christmas music played by Mannheim. The carols and Christmas music might be common, but the interpretation by Mannheim Steamroller is all but typical. Lovers of classical, jazz, or rock 'n roll can enjoy this album.

I cannot rave enough about the lovely melodies of the Manheim Steamroller! As soon as the Christmas season nears, this is the first CD I pull out, and it's the last one to be put away when spring comes! So majestic, so well-done! A must-have!

I've always liked Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas music. This was an inexpensive opportunity to add a recent title to my collection. The CD includes some old favorites and new pieces. They are consistent with their style and quality.

Gorgeous music that really gets you into the Christmas/Holiday spirit. Love this CD. Great CD to put on and go about your household chores, makes it a much better experience. My husband and I found ourselves automatically putting it on as background music when the TV wasn't on. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

This cd is orchestra music with such feeling. It sounds big and beautiful. I decided to buy it because I didn't have any Christmas Orchestra in my Christmas music collection. I made a good choice.

Excellent CDI really like Mannheim Steamroller, but the visual is almost as good as the audio. That being said, this CD is very good. Truth being told I love all Christmas music.
