MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET: Kris Kringle--who, unbeknownst to cynical, market-minded adults, is the real Santa Claus--is hired to play himself at Macy's department store in New York City. His gentle, joyous spirit and magical powers soon transform those around him, including a little girl and her world-weary mother. This classic Christmas fable received four Academy Award Nominations, including Best Picture, and won Oscars for Best Original Story, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (for Edmund Gwenn).
