A Christmas Carol (DVD, 2005)

In my childhood, Reginald Owen's version of Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" was my favorite holiday movie. The after-ghostly-visit exhuberance and the joy of his character is unequaled in any other actor in any other movie, anytime, anywhere; my opinion, of course. In the age of black and white TV, growing up in the 1950's with "A Christmas Carol" every December (next to the toy trains under the trees) was the best part of Christmas. Joyous, intoxicating, nostalgic; many more words.
The characters of Scrooge's nephew, Fred and his wife, and clerk, Cratchit. They made you wish you lived there in that time and knew them well despite the hardships of Dicken's 19th Century London. Check out Fred's wife; a striking English beauty if there ever was one; a major WOW.
A real feel good happy movie from 1938. You had the feel Frank Capra was the director. It was of that style. I believe this one will be entertaining kids of all ages in 2038 and for a great deal longer than that.

I love the fact that this flick is my mom's favorite Christmas movie. I was always looking for it for her and noone ever the 1938 version with Reginald Owen. Right as her birthday was rounding the corner I happened to find 4 stores with it on the net and then I found this one here. This one actually was cheaper even with shipping and insurance than from a major store. Also, it was shipped and received by her two days in advance. This year my gift was not late for once.

I bought this dvd specifically because it's on dvd. I have an extensive collection of Charles Dickens' stories and I want every version on every medium. I also have this version on VHS, B&W and colorized. This version is really sentimental and corny but I love it. Leaves you warm and fuzzy at Christmastime!

Excellent Christmas movie. If you don't own this one, you have got to buy it. A classic in every sense!

I have always been a fanatic for old movies, especially 1930's and 40's Xmas movies or even old movies. Because movies nowadays don't have that romantic or family type feeling. I like movies that depict the old novels or movies with old themes. Like Victorian themes, historical themes, Dickenson, Jane Austen, and the other old authors. Civil war themes and even Native American themes (being that I have a minor in archeology),those also interest me. I hope these show-up in the near future. I bought this DVD because it has been a favorite Christmas story since my children were small. Every Christmas night we all would sit down together and watch this version. It was our favorite. Over the years and moves I lost the copy I had. I had been looking for this version and happily I found it on ebay.

This version is among mom's favorites of the many different Christmas Carols. Mom's a fan of the Lockheart family who were in a lot of movies during the 40s-50s.

Love this version, and totally happy that it was put onto DVD format finally!!!! I have searched high and low to find it on dvd, and this is the first store that I know of after all the searching I have found to sell it. This is such a great story, and will always be played in my home for the Holidays!

Watched this growing up. Great old time favorite and any age enjoys it. It gives you the true spirit of Christmas.

This is my favorite of all the version of A Christmas Carol. Just captures the holiday classic better than any other. Maybe it's the era or being in black-and-white. No other version of this movie compares. No frills, just a good solid movie.

Was a fan of this film and had a hard time finding it. Was very easy to find on E-Bay. It is a good family film and one with the GREAT Christmas Lesson.

i love movie the reason i buy it was because i saw that movie when i was a little girl. i like movie it was ship in a few days but all in general it good movie to watch with the family.

What is really to be said, if you like Dickens "A Christmas Carol" this version should most definately be in your collection. Reginald Owen plays an excellent Scrooge, plays the part perfectly. I think it's a must for any fan.

I love classic holiday movies. This version of A Christmas Carol is my favorite version. I think it rates right up there with It's a Wonderful Life and Mircale on 34th Street. Every year I try to find this version on tv. Its very hard to find it. I was extremely excited when I found it on Ebay.

I purchased, A Christmas Carol, for my brother. If I didn't already own it, two would have been bought.. :)
A Christmas Carol is a great, old-fashion movie, that need not only be watched during the holidays, but throughout the year.
For instance, everyone has 'down' days. Sometimes, when I'm feeling 'blue', watching A Christmas Carol, is similar to a legal stimulant without the chemicals, brightening my days and/or nights. Heck, there were times I watched the DVD as early or late, depending on ones outlook, during the hot month of July. lol
All in all, A Christmas Carol is a truly beautiful, realistic in its dreamlike fashion, cozy movie, that should be watched by children of all ages, like the Chestnut song goes, 'To Kids from 1 to 92.

I bought this particular movie because, of all the Chrisitmas movies out there, this is my husband's favorite. The great selling point was that it was new in it's original packaging; and the shipping was reasonable. The communication from this seller was good, and I had no problems at any time during this transaction.

I HAVE HAD THIS ON A VSH TAPE THAT I RECORDED YEARS AGO. SO TO HAVE IT ON DVD THINGS ARE SO MUCH CLEARER.

WWhat I loved is no matter how many versions are made this one will always be the best. Watching it makes you feel like your'e back in time, a child again, safe and believing in anything. I decided to buy it so that every Christmas it will be part of my own Christmas tradition of certain movies to watch.

I love this movie. It's genuine and really gives you a feel for the true meaning of Christmas. I have the this is VHS and I enjoy it so much wanted to be sure I had the DVD for my collection.

Tape is in excellant condition, We like this movie at christmas and the price was good.
