In a somewhat curious move, jangle-pop outfit the Rembrandts (duo Phil Solem and Danny Wilde) re-recorded 14 of their hits for this best-of compilation. More curious still, the re-recordings are almost identical to the originals. That said, CHOICE PICKS is a fine summation of the radio-friendly, harmony-heavy pop songs the Rembrandts produced. Whether it's the hit single from the 1990 debut "Just the Way It Is, Baby," or "I'll Be There For You," their theme song for the wildly popular TV sitcom FRIENDS, there's no denying the duo had a way with a hook. Concise and uniformly listenable, this set should nicely service everyone but the most devoted followers of the band.
