A Heart Warming Movie With Great Characters & Story

Victor Mature stars in this WWII movie as Captain Cliff Brandon who drunkenly buys a Chinese indentured servant girl for 3 months while he is on duty in China. He thought that he was buying a prostitute for the night.
Catholic priest Father Cairns (Ward Bond) at first reprimands his good friend Cliff for what he has done but then encourages him to keep Shu Jen for the 3 months as a housekeeper to help her poor family keep their land with the money he paid. What neither expected though is that Shu Jen would become an instrumental part of the Brandon shack and eventually that Brandon would fall in love with Shu Jen when she nursed him back to health after he comes down with malaria.
There is good supporting players in this movie too. A little Chinese boy named Ellington will steal your heart. He serves as an interpreter between Shu Jen and Captain Brandon. Two Red Cross representatives and two airmen (Stuart Whitman is one) round out the cast. You will even get to see a traditional Chinese wedding.
There is also music in this movie. A song named "Suppose" is performed on the piano and sung by one of the airmen.
This movie will warm your heart.
