Chic Knits by Mari A. Williams (2005, Paperback)

This is a fun book, and yes, modern! But, there are some classics in this book. Such as the sweater on the cover. It is made with an eyelash yarn, but that is easily changable. The scarf that goes with it is very nice and versatile. It was knit in two different yarns, and with scarves being all the rage and a top accessorie now, this scarf could be made with many different yarns. This is a SUPER book for beginners. She starts out slowly and does very easy patterns and then moves on, but never past the medium range of knitting. There are some really nice patterns in this book. I am an advanced knitter and I am going to make the cover sweater for myself and my mom, whom is 71 and loves the cover sweater. She also picked out two other sweaters that she really liked from this book. As for me, I like this book and I will use it when I return to teaching knitting. I know the group will love a lot of these patterns.
