A clinically-oriented "essentials" text that presents a concise yet comprehensive summary of the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine. The volume is divided into four sections: pulmonary structure and function; diagnostic studies in patients with respiratory problems; evaluation and management of lung disease; and the critically ill patient. Responding to changes in the field of critical care medicine since the first edition, this section in the current edition is expanded from four to seven chapters.
