what a great dvd by one of the best bands in the world. the sound and video are all top notch. with songs off every album and plenty of great guests this is a must for any cheap trick fan. robin cant quite hit the high notes anymore but since thats to be expected after all these years of rockin i found absolutly no dislikes or dissapointments about this disk. still one of the all time great bands out there.

  "Silver" will GRAB you!
Review created: 04/15/09

I first saw Cheap Trick's "Silver" as a special concert on DirecTV and was instantly captivated by a band that I recognized vaguely from the 70s & 80s--but had never gotten "into", thanks to minimal radio play and attention. Here was a rock group, together (sans Tom Petersson for a few years in the 80s) for 25 years that still sounded and appeared phenomenal! Cheap Trick STILL has an incredible sound and energy that has more than improved with time. Robin Zander is hotter than ever and has titanium pipes that CAN hit the high notes, for example: "The Flame". These guys continue to crank out new music and tour relentlessly.

"Silver" is an excellent comprehensive blend of Cheap Trick's essentially original music up 'til 1999--a "must-have" for ANYONE who appreciates rock-n-roll talent. Rick Nielsen's self-deprecating humor & deadpan sarcasm exhibits an overall humility that is a rare quality seen in rock-n-roll.

Guests include Slash, Billy Corrigan (Smashing Pumpkins), and Art (Everclear)--musicians that were obviously influenced by and look up to Cheap Trick. Having band members' kids on stage singing and playing instruments will, per Rick, give you "goosebumps".

Cheap Trick might just make it to a golden 50, unfortunately as one of rock's most under-rated bands of all time!

  So-so video

If you are a Cheap Trick fan, you'll enjoy this DVD. However, the sound and video quality are only fair at best. Filmed outdoors, the spotlights often "flood/white" out the band members. I listened to the DVD in Dolby 5.1 stereo. The sound seemed very muddy with too much echo...which seemed very odd for an outdoor concert. I wish the vocal mics would have been keyed up more. Despite the rather average sound and video quality, the DVD does offer a great collection of Cheap Trick songs. They do sing all their classic hits...and I especially enjoyed them singing the theme song to "That 70's Show". Overall, I'd give Cheap Trick's Silver DVD a "C+" rating.

  Cheap Trick: Silver is GOLD!

If you're a Cheap Trick fan (and who isn't?) then don't let this DVD elude your grasp. This concert contains all the hits and then some. I really enjoyed the commentary by the band as they reveal some of the history of the songs on the DVD. Their kids actually join them on stage and perform on a few songs and Robin Zander's daughter could definitely have a singing career if she wanted one. You will also enjoy some surprise guest musicians during the show. All in all, this DVD rocks and proves that Cheap Trick are just as awesome today as they were a quarter of a century ago!
