melodic folk-rock good for miles to come
Bree Sharp's debut is classic American folk-rock in the tradition of Sheryl Crow or even Tom Petty with a completely new and somewhat zaney twist that is destintively Bree. The sound is all heartland, but the lyrics show that this girl knows her way around the big city as well, and although she can't help but touch the subject of love and love lost (few musicians can avoid it) her ascerbic wit can dabble as well in the realms of the political, the sociological, and the pop culture which is as dear to our American hearts as the swaying grass that makes up those midwestern amber waves of grain. In short, this is a great CD to take on a road trip. On the surface, the melodic strumming and the creative lyrics will make you feel good; and, if you consider the meaning behind the metaphors, Bree Sharp may just make you think as well.
