Charlie Wilson's War by George Crile (2003, Hardcover, Illustrated)

The book is awesome, and provides the reader a behind the scenes view of how Congress works, how the CIA works, and how America kicked Russia out of Afghanistan and defeated the Taliban and was on our way to securing a decent future for the Afghanis until Bush, Jr. took us off course and invaded Iraq.
As Charlie says, we "took our eye off the ball."
Congressman Wilson, a friend of more than 40 years was a true patriot as a public service and I wish him well in his retirement.
The CIA awarded him their top civilian award, the first and only time CIA has done this.
