A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1997, VHS)

As a small girl growing up...we sat around our black and white tv and watched during holidays, Charlie Brown specials that viewed on television. Some of the dearest people who watched with me are no longer with us, but the memories are so close as if it were yesterday. Home made newspaper cups filled to the brim with fresh popped pop corn, maybe a home made cup of hot chocolate...quality time together, how special all this was...

Having three children...who are grown now...see the excitement of the holidays during the earlier part of their lives, who do you think always shared excitement with us? The magical Charlie Brown and his fictional family of friends. Through many many years of continued holiday tradition, we have fairly been a fan of this cartoon favorite, We loved to watch Charlie Brown and his group of friends, Woodstock, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Linus, and the gang. Just this past week I was going through some of my old family photos and I found a picture of my son who was about a year old, sound asleep on his bed. Who was he lying on? His Charlie Brown bedspread. He had the complete set...curtains, bedspread, Snoopie dog, it was his favorite and it was adorable.

When I saw our Thanksgiving Charlie Brown VHS tape being offered at auction, I knew that I just had to try to win it. We have five grandchildren now and the oldest grandson would ask me several times during the day to check and see if we had won the tape. I just had to win him this tape! He had shared the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown with the second grade class at Halloween and he wanted to share this Thanksgiving tape with the children before school let out for the Thanksgiving holiday. After winning, we patiently waited for the mail man to deliver this tape. Upon its arrival what do you think we did??? Watched Charlie Brown Thanksgiving over and over and over that evening. We even watched it on television when it came on. IT was so exciting winning this tape! The tape looked used but we didn't care. It is now ours and has been placed with the rest of our tape collection.

Some day I would love to have a Charlie Brown display for my front yard.. We drew on paper a pattern at Halloween of the Pumpkin Patch, but have not been able to cut it out of wood. My husband lost his job this past April and is working two jobs to make up for the one lost job. His time is very limited. Maybe next year good old Charlie Brown and his special friendship gang will be join us for holiday cheer.

I would love to say....Thank You Charlie Brown.....Charlie, You have made so many memories for many people. We love you and your ever so dedicated special friends...You look the same as you did 40 years ago, I wish I knew your secret!!! Maybe someday my great-grandchildren will enjoy you as my children, grandchildren and I have. We love you...
