Description: Selections recorded in 1973, 1980, 1981 and 1982.
Floating enigmatically above the rarified pastures of the Billboard Top 10 (only recently visited by the THREE TENORS), CHANT is unquestionably the most remarkable chart success of 1994--...
If you like Gregorian Chant, you will love this cd; what's not to love. Recordings selected over several years from The Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos in Spain. Simply gorgeous, contemplative music.
This is exactly what I hoped to find when I bought it. It is peaceful, beautiful, and simply enchanting. The echo of their voices creates the image of the huge and hallowed halls of ancient monasteries. This collection truly makes you feel that you are listening to sounds that could have been recorded centuries ago.
Hauntingly beautiful--------THERE IS NO BETTER MUSIC TO SET YOU OFF TO SLEEP!!!!!!! but I do mean this in a GOOD, THERAUPUTIC way. Extremly relaxing and lovely to hear.
This CD playing in the background enables me to focus on my daily paperwork. It presents a chance to "tune out" other distractions and relax during the day.
I purchased this CD to play in my car and for meditation purposes. It reminds me of Sunday Mass when I was growing up. There is something about the mantra of chant that quiets the psyche and allows the babal of the world to recede. Be Still and Listen is one of the shorter lessons of the bible. The music doesn't get in the way of this listening, but enhances the experience. This is a very worthwhile expenditure for anyone who wishes to just listen.
it is great background music, very relaxing. i enjoyed it very much. i had a cassette of it years ago and missplaced it. i had thought about it and decided to go on ebay to see if i could find a cd of it and was thrilled when i was able to bid and won it. i am very happy with the cd plus two tapes.
You don't have to be religious to enjoy this CD, just enjoy perfect harmoneys and fantastic music. I had this CD in Highschool and wore out my copy...need I say more?
This CD wasn't nearly what I thought it would be after all the hoopla I heard about it. It reminded me of a choir in a large church with echo, singing the same song over and over with only slight variance each time. If you like that sort of thing then knock yourself out. I expected something more. Not worth the shipping charge.
