Fearures Actors:Angelina Jolie, Devon Conti & Gattlin Griffith
Running Time:142 Min.
Rating:R

The point of departure is March 9, 1928, which is when we are introduced to Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie), a single-mom raising a nine year-old (Gattlin Griffith) in the City of Los Angeles. By profession, Christine roams around the floor of the phone company on roller skates as the supervisor of a bank of operators.
The plot thickens the fateful Saturday she agrees to fill-in for a co-worker, leaving little Walter home alone. By the time she returns after the shift, the boy has vanished without a clue, so she calls the police to file a missing persons report.
Several months later the cops claim to have solved the mystery, and announce that Walter's been found alive and well. However, Christine's hopes are soon dashed when the child returned to her is an impostor (Devon Conti) who is four inches short than her son.
Now, this is where the movie starts to make no sense. Instead of accepting the mother's simple assertion that this was not her son, we're led to believe the LAPD instead s pressured Christine to take custody of a perfect stranger. Doesn't that sound inhuman?
And how long could a young impersonator keep up such a charade, even if he had wanted to? Wouldn't the fraud have been exposed the first time "Walter" went out to play with his friends, visited relatives, greeted neighbors or went to school? Something doesn't add up here.

Hope this helps you decide. Thanks for reading! :)

They Call It The City of Angels

If Changeling hadn't started out with the "This is a true story" graphic I wouldn't have made it through the first hour. The story seemed so preposterous that it was insulting and yet armed with at least the belief that it was true made the insult so infuriating that it became compelling. This is an outstanding motion picture because it really happened. The movie buff in each of us would have hated it otherwise. I saw all five movies nominated for Best Picture. Changeling was the equal of the best of the crop and superior to at least three of them. In seeing those I also saw Kate Winslet's Oscar winning performance for Best Actress and couldn't say she was any more deserving than Angelina Jolie. Each of the actors involved (most of whom are best known as television stars) really brought these characters to life, some subtly, some vividly. Amy Adams continues to prove her versatility. I was also amazed at the recreation of Los Angeles in the late 1920's. The street Christine Collins lived on looked like streets in Hyde Park when I first moved here (without the Tin Lizzies of course.) Clint Eastwood is excellent at establishing mood and did it perfectly here even going so far as to write the music himself. Extremely well done. The execution scene was kind of an interesting twist on the overused theme of justice begetting closure. It didn't bother me. I found Changeling to be very creepy though. It wasn't as much the serial killer as the bureaucrat doctors and government officials that manipulated everything that really bothered me. I found myself fluctuating between rage born of frustration and depression induced apathy that just wanted to shut it off to avoid the hopelessness of trying to deal with these characters. Again if this were fiction it would not have been believable. I never accepted the motivation of the LAPD for such an outrageous course of action. In the end Changeling wasn't a movie that was thought provoking as much as it was emotion evoking and it certainly evoked a myriad of emotions in me.

Another Brilliant movie under Client Eastwood Direction .

This movie is about missing child and a mother never loosing hope on finding his lost son . She gets no help from corrupt police . This movie is all about Scary Search for Truth . This movie takes you back to 1928 in LA . Movie is based on a True story Event

1. Angeline Jolie carried the mother role very well . Played the mother role , she was natural actor in the movie and her role was superb

3. Movie is based on a True story Event

  the changeling blu-ray movie
Review created: 05/21/09

cover and disc in excellent condition. honest buyer. fast shipping. reasonable price. I like to purchase blu-ray movies that are new releases without paying the brand new price or store prices. Ebay gives me the chance to do just that. I can buy previously viewed blu-rays at video stores for $16.99, but I would have to use my gas and time to drive there. This way I can shop without leaving home.
