Jodi Picoult does not disappoint in her new novel, A Change of Heart. The story centers around an inmate on death row who killed a father and his young daughter. Now, believing in his redemption through donating his heart to the sister of his young victim, the story revolves around his battle to die in a way that allows him to donate his heart and in convincing the mother of both the victim and the girl who needs a heart to accept his heart. I have read all of Jodi Picoult’s books. She has a way of writing about a subject that I always think is a black and white topic and turning it into something much more grey – and utterly believable. How could you feel sorry for a death row inmate? How could you care equally about people who are completely at odds with each other? I read this book in a matter of a few days because the story is so compelling. I needed to keep reading it at every opportunity. This book gets my top rating!

As a major Jodi Picoult fan I had to get the book 'yesterday' - and there is was on eBay!
Thought provoking story of a death row prisoner that wants to donate his heart to a member of one of his victim's family, who was awaiting a transplant. You can't, however, donate organs after death by lethal injection, so what happens next is the story of the lives of the people involved in trying to carry out the prisoners wishes - or not!
There are lighter moments, that raise a smile, and moments where you may say 'no way' - but trust me you don't want to judge too soon, you never know what is on the next page.
A thought provoking book that has changed my views about the death penalty. Enjoy.

There is not a single book written by Jodi Picoult that I have not enjoyed reading. Her stories, though fictional, are so well researched and so well written that I feel I'm right there in the midst of it all. This book is just as well written and hard to put down until the end. I highly recommend this book and all of her books. They would make an excellent collection to read in a book club. Many good discussions would come about.

If you enjoy Jodi Picoult's novels, as I do, you will enjoy this one. As she does so well in her best work, Picoult weaves themes of religion and faith, parent and child, love and loss with sudden violence. She'll have you rexamining much of what you may have thought about issues like the death penalty and religion in this story of a death row inmate who wants to donate his heart to his victim's sister. The personal side stories of the main characters - a priest and an ACLU attorney are equally satistfying.

CHANGE OF HEART is a really good book, and I'm happy to say I enjoyed it so much more than THE TENTH CIRCLE.
Books dealing with religion are tricky, because it's easy for the author to come off as either anti-religion or too preachy. Ms. Picoult balances this well, using religion as a springboard for other topics.
There are definitely some supernatural aspects of this story, but overall its based firmly in the very real emotions of anger, love, and forgiveness, and the fact that nothing is ever exactly as it seems.
This is definitely a book I would recommend to others.

THIS BOOK, "CHANGE OF HEART" BY JODI PICOULT WAS SUCH A WELL WRITTEN, MOVING NOVEL. THIS BOOK IS ABOUT AN INMATE NAMED SHAY WHO WOULD LIKE TO DONATE HIS HEART TO HIS VICTIM'S SISTER ONCE HE PASSES AWAY BY THE DEATH PENALTY. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IF HE IS KILLED BY LETHAL INJECTION IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO DO THIS AS HIS HEART WILL STOP BEATING AND BE INELIGIBLE. SHAY MUST FIND ANOTHER METHOD OF EXECUTION FOR HIM TO DONATE HIS HEART. THERE ARE SOME GREAT CHARACTERS IN THIS NOVEL INCLUDING THE INTELLIGENT LAWYER, MAGGIE BLOOM AND THE THOUGHTFUL SPIRITUAL ADVISOR, FATHER MICHAEL. EXCELLENT READ BY AN EXCELLENT AUTHOR. MAKE THIS YOUR SUMMER READ!

I love hard cover books, but think they cost way to much! This is a great way to purchase like-new books at a fraction of the price. Jodi Picoult is a popular author right now, and cranks out a book every year. Usually, they're a good read. (This was a good one.)

Very good book. Well written, extensive character development. A story told from every angle-- like all of her previous books. Nineteen minutes and My Sister's Keeper are still my favorites. This one and Plain Truth are probably next in line. A definate must read!!!

Typical Jodi Picoult, easy reading, likable characters. Alot of emphasis on religion and the law. Shay Bourne is convicted for murder and sentenced to death by lethal injection. He would like to donate his heart to the sister of his victim. This is impossible with leathal injection hence religion vs law.

Once again Jodi Picoult gives her readers a hard to put down read. The characters all seem as if they are real life people and not justs in Jodi's imagination. As always she deals with issues that almost anyone can relate to in this day and age and she somehow is able to allow you to see both sides of a story. This is a MUST read for all Jodi Picoult fans. If anyone has not yet read her books don't try this book if you don't want to hooked, both on the book and a new favorite author!

I enjoyed this book very much and I am big Jodi fan. I have read almost all of her books. You do NOT have to read all of them to know one book from another - just pick this up and go! It's WORTH reading. It's extremely heart-wrenching and the pain this mother goes through is something we all could relate to. The only problem I have with this book is the priest - sort of giving up on his faith - honestly, I think that was something she could have written better. As a christian, I struggled with that part but overall, it's riveting, surprising twist and doesn't go straight to the end like you think it will :)

I emailed them about it, and they spoke of a refund, or sending another, I asked for a refund, but still haven't heard if that has been done for me. I teach high school English & I bought this book because I can't keep enough copies on the shelf. My students love Jodi Picoult & I'm thrilled that they are that excited about reading.I haven't read the book yet but I will as soon as I'm out for the summer.My students told me that I will not be disappointed with this book---it is as good as her previous novels.

I own everything Jodi Picoult has ever written - she's one of my favorite authors. Change of Heart is a wonderful novel that explores fascinating topics that have been debated and wrestled with for generations: the death penalty; the Gnostic gospels; Christianity and Judaism; organ donation. I found it hard to put down. It's a truly captivating story.
