Celtic Woman - The Greatest Journey (DVD, 2008)

Even tho this dvd is really a 'greatest hits' of Celtic Woman, it is still worth the price for 2 things. One, most of the best of Celtic Woman's 3 previous dvds are included. Second, and most important, the extra stuff. There is a fantastic story included about Celtic Woman. It shows the beginning. The ladies talk about their experiences. Behind the scenes stuff. Its great! To me, a Celtic Woman fan, it is worth purchasing because of this extra background. Its hard to find out much about these women - this background gives us lots of information and entertainment.

This stellar quintet is revolutionary in every respect. Each of the ladies are stars in their own right. Impecable beauty. Incredible vocal range and control. Unbelievable presentation. There is a sixth member of Celtic Woman who plays a truly mean fiddle. [Celtic music, like the Appalachian music it spawned, demands a fiddle... not a violin.] And, her dance performances are unequaled in either ballet or modern dance. The costumes, scenery and production are unequaled in my experience. The song selection [mostly Celtic or written to capture the Celtic spirit] is flawlessly chosen to match the vocal, musical and dance acrobatics of stars selected to present each song... whether solo; duet; trio; quartet; or quintet. The choral and orchestral arrangements are just as carefully chosen and integrated to support and propel the chosen stars and material into a totally new spatial musical performance that transforms the audience into a participatory role that compares favorable with Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, Bette Midler, Barbra Striesand, Michael Jackson and Madonna concerts I have seen.

Upon first experiencing Celtic Woman on Georgia Public Broadcasting, it leaped off my 63" tv screen and overpowered me. I had to have a copy. It has become my favorite musical dvd... which means my favorite dvd of any kind. I ordered two copies for Christmas. One for my wife and I and one for my youngest brother and his wife. They rave about it as much as we do and took it with them for their children and grandchildren to enjoy. Any lover of great musical performances should have a copy of this dvd.

I love the singing of the Celtic Woman group. Their voices are extraordinary. This DVD was a good buy.

This video is wonderful. It is filled with the great music of Ireland, and the beauty of Ireland too. It is also great music to listen to even if you are not watching, but just listening.

Just some very great music and the production was fantastic....
