Cell by Stephen King (2006, Hardcover)

I rated this book good for only one reason....................??, oh?, sorry i was day dreaming, again. I really like the idea of civilization coming to a end, not in a limited nuclear exchange, but in a whimper, the last sane vestiges of man slowly coming to a end, followed by an evolved race of humans with the ability to_______ and____ ____because they are freaking ____ ____!!. At first you are on the edge of your seat, living the hell the characters in the book are living, breathing, fighting, surviving, letting you, the reader, privy to their most intimate fears, in my own words, perfection. You feel the terror, the sheer enormity of what has happened, the changing and the realization that something so simple, so depended on has affected nearly 75% of the worlds population.
As you read on, as i did, you will find your self pulling for the "heros", and saddened by the loss of group members, this the author expertly weaved into the fabric of story and of your heart, so much so you will loose track of time and find yourself becoming one of the tired, hungry, emotional repressed, or emotional if you prefer, road weary survivors.
Now to my ggod only rating. The ending. Without revealing anything it is left wide open for a part 2, yes part 2, for this i am elated, yet at the same time a little leary because it has been since 2006 when the book was released and now it is nearly 2009. Hence my Good rating, i expect so much for from this first book, like a trilogy, that would be nice. Mr. King could let loose with both barrels and glean his mind for all the unanswered questions that still need to be answered from the first book, enough so that part 2 and part 3 would barely scratch the surface for those travels that are yet to be traversed.
I aplogize to anyone who reads more into this simple review than i have laid upon these pages, this was not my intent nor my desire. Do take note that at the header title are the words, (spoiler alert). I have kept the main gist of the story out the review in respect to those who have not read the book......yet. WARNING: IF THE REST OF THE WORLD IS GOING CRAZY AND YOU ARE NOT, GET OFF THE STREETS, HIDE, SEEK WATER, FOOD AND TRAVEL BY NIGHT......ONLY!. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. (If you read this book and like it as much as i, try reading, Earth Abides, it is a old book but still in print, absolutely brilliant!.)
