A MESMERIZING AND BRISK READ

The master of doom updates widespread disaster King classics like The Stand with a technological twist that puts terror directly in our ears and spreads death and destruction across the world. The world splits into two camps: "phoners" and "normies". Will any of us use a cell phone again in the real world without thinking about The Pulse? Who knows what the capabilities are with real world cellphone terror, but let's hope it's less than this horrifying world conjured up by Mr King.
Those expressing disappointment should remember you can only make blood spurt so many ways, the rest is in the storyline. And King succeeds magnificently in Cell. It literally dragged me along by the throat and I couldn't put it down. I'm not a usual horror fan but I do occasionally enjoy wading into a bloody King novel depicting a world gone crazy and normal humanity trying to survive. George Romero and Richard Matheson should be proud. Bravo, Stephen, you are the ultimate survivor!
