  Is There A Ghost
Review created: 03/15/09

Not sure why everyone compares this to Neil Young. I get more of a Flaming Lips vibe...minus the strangeness. This is an excellent album but not as good as Everything All The Time. 3 1/2 Stars.

The album is amazing. The selling experience was A+. Seller was fast and realiable! The band I stumbled upon and thought I'd give a listen to while I was at the library one day, And now I love them.

  I don't get it...

I love this record, and this band, but I do not understand why everyone compares them to My Morning Jacket. Admittedly, I have only a passing acquaintance with My Morning Jacket's music, but other than the singers having vaguely similar voices, I don't see the resemblance. I think they sound more like Neil Young than MMJ.

Lush sound gallops away from the rest of the herd
Review created: 02/19/08

Due to the haunting melody of "Is There a Ghost" I took a chance and bought this CD. I have not been disappointed. Not only does that track continuously please, but every other track shines, a true rarity. The group changes styles and tempos, so it doesn't bore. My second favorite is "Ode to LRC" and I don't even know what those initials stand for! That brings me to my only negative comment: there are no lyrics, just a collection of individual photos included, which is unique and a plus for those who are okay without the words to the songs.

good songs but I've heard this sound before

Band Of Horses = Neil Young's Flaming Arcade Jacket......good songs none the less. Many memorable moments are fit tightly together on this, the band's sophomore effort, which, at just over 30 minutes in length, leaves you wanting a bit more. They are very easy to listen to.

Good CD, but doesn't reflect Neil Young as RS said....
Review created: 12/05/07

Rolling Stone gave this band a good review for their 2nd release so I wanted to check it out. The reviewer said that there was a lot of Neil Young influence on BOH's music which influenced me to buy it, too. After many listens, I found that I liked this CD, but I really didn't get the NY influence that was supposed to be there according to the RS review. The sound reminds me more of My Morning Jacket on some songs if you want to peg them with another band.

Pumpkins & Cash Meet My Morning Jacket in a Dark Alley
Review created: 12/03/07
by:

This is a solid album in a year of great music. The listener is hooked to the haunting vocals. At times the vocals seem reptitive but the harmonies and melodies are unmistakably infectious. Very unique sound and blend of southern rock with hints of 90s rock and down home country mixed in. A must have for any fan of My Morning Jacket.
