It is a terrific book because it is long enough to get some inkling of what it was like, yet short enough so that it doesn't overwhelm. I am sure that any kid who has any kind of interest in blacksmithing or times gone past will enjoy it immensely. Big Kids too!

What a lovely book. I wish I had heard about it before Mr. Simmons died. It would have been worth a trip to NC to look him up. Real craftsmen in America are so rare and are independent from what the rest of us call jobs.
