  Pokemonizing evil creatures

Long time ago, circa January 2005, an old friend lent me "that new Castlevania game where you get the enemie's souls"; i played a while, around 2 hours straight and i had this curious realisation: "man, am i playing pokemon capturing souls of evil creatures, some of them beign folk demons from other parts of the world?" "well mostly but you get to actually use yourself said souls, not just summon them".

With this entrance, i went to play all the way through "Aria of Sorrow" for the GBA. The controls are quite precise, if not almost slippery in some surfaces, where our main hero Soma Cruz must avoid a certain despair for the world while trapped inside a rebuilt Count Dracula's Castle. Graphycally, the game gives you as much as it was the system capable of showing the best it was capable, showing some colorful and detailed imagery both on the background and the foreground. For an almost gothic-themed game, in a portable console, this was quite a task pulled by the little wonder.

I can't stress enough how much of a good gameplay experience awaits for anyone who dares to have a sweep at this game, wich has a high-end replay value, where you have the challenges of finding all souls and completely exploring the castle itself.

Get it if you find. The goods await.

  Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Review created: 08/10/09

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon was a fantastic intro to the series on the Game Boy Advance, and an excellent launch title. But Konami one-upped the game with Harmony of Dissonance at least in terms of wow-factor. But the game was a little on the easy side to beat; and Aria of Sorrow brings back that challenge. The majority of boss battles are a little too easy and predictable, but there are those two or three that will cause a few restarts in your adventure. The gameplay is a significant step forward above Harmony of Dissonance. The soul collection element is very clever and adds so much to the gameplay, but there's very little in the way of level design innovation; you've seen many of the ooh-neat things in the last game in the series. And though it's a satisfying quest, it ends surprisingly quick. But luckily that's when the bare minimum is accomplished -- the developers put in a whole bunch that will keep players wandering the castle to get that ultimate finish.

  Not so good

Excited as i was to buy this game, especially since its one of my personal favorites, i was pretty disappointed upon receiving it. The label on the game was half way gone. Then as i proceeded to try and play the game, it did not work. I could start to play but my game would not save so i could never get very far. I took it to a gamestop location and they informed me the game could be a fake (a copy) because they have seen it before.

One of the Best GBA Games!
Review created: 03/08/09

After playing through Dawn of Sorrow for the DS, I immediately went out and purchased Aria of Sorrows, which is the prequel to Dawn of Sorrows. It has flawless gameplay, and provided me hours of entertainment for my Castlevania fix. While it may be a little difficult for the younger kids, a mature gamer will enjoy the depth of the game and the "leveling" up feature as well. This has definitely been one of the best GBA games I have played to date, and for anyone wanting a good game for a rainy weekend I highly recommend it. I played through the game in about 13 hours according to the internal clock, but it took me several weeks to accumulate that. Definitely worth its money!

I returned it and was lucky to get my money back. Grandson was very upset as he said it was a copy of the game and not the original.

i love the gameplay presented in the game. Exploring unknown regions in the game helps the player to find new monsters and weapons. the reason i had borrowed my friend's copy of the game, and was immediately impressed with the gameplay, so i decided to buy my own copy of the game

Great Game. I recommend to anyone who is a fan of castlevania. The dislike about it is that when you die you have to start from the save point so make sure you save frequently unless you a GRAND MASTER.

One of the best Castlevania games for the GBA. Graphics and sound are cool as well as the characters in the game. Easy weapon and character advancements as well. Great addition to the castlevania legend. 5 / 5
