The Castle (DVD, 1999)

If you can your hands on this movie, buy it!

An Australian gem that blends "A Christmas Story," "It's a Wonderful Life" and Monty Python. (Think about that!) It starts out slow, but picks up momentum and delivers lots of laughs and a great message about justice and the common man. The amazing thing is that you will want to watch it again and again, and it gets funnier every time.

Great for the family (if you don't mind a bit of rough language). Beware: there are dozens of lines that you and your family will quote incessantly.

Simply priceless.

Saw it back in 03, when I was living in Sydney. The movie is a funny way of describing the australian stereotype. Good laughs.

If you don't like Australian humor, you won't like this. But this has become a cult classic in our family. My husband has shared it with his Marine Corps buddies... and it's starting to spread! You have to actually watch it a few times to start quoting the lines in the movie... but there's a line for every situation in life! GREAT movie! Also, some of the same actors are in the movie "The Dish" Get that one too!

This out of production DVD was a little more difficult to find. I wanted to get it for my son to give to Mom for Xmas. Service was excellent and product arrived on time.

Hilariously funny. Characters are so warm.
Movie was well made. It is better still that it is based on a real life occurrence.
Well recommended esp for the Brittish/Aussie sense of humour.

This off beat Australian comedy was great. This unique family fights to save thier "great" home at the end of an airport runway from condemnation, when the airport wants to expand the runway. You will love the off beat humor and these original characters.
