Synopsis
Erin Hilderbrand's powerful novel charts the profound changes in the lives of three Nantucket couples after a fourth couple perishes in a tragic sailing accident. Known as "The Castaways," the four couples were leading seemingly idyllic island lives before Greg and Tess McAvoy drowned under mysterious circumstances. What should have been a routine investigation into the cause of the accident opens a Pandora's box of secret passions, scandals, and affairs which cross and connect like cracks in a shattered window.

Industry Reviews
"Great fun, and with a few poignant moments too."
(05/15/2009)

"Despite all the melodrama, THE CASTAWAYS is a sensitive portrayal of the complexities of friendship. Hilderbrand's characters illustrate the alliances, insecurities and joys that color adult relationships. But it's also a cautionary tale about hanging out with the same people all the time. This group excels at narcissism, bickering and drinking themselves silly. Still, when it's done well, as it is here, reading about other people's problems is ever so satisfying."
