Casio EXILIM EX-Z75 Not the best , yet not the worst

i bough this orignally from this very site Ebay for $290 (s/h included, oct 2005) and i've had it for a few months now and everything still works fine. I upgraded from an older casio (exz50). Pictures are excellent with the exception of low lights such as at night; it gets pretty grainy, even with flash. This was the same with my older casio (exz50). i think it is one of casio's major flaws. the flash is also very weak. To make up, I like to use one of its "best shot" mode: "night", but its a slow shutter so u have to be very still for a while or its gonna get messed up (blurry specificallly). But that function would only be practical with scenaries, because your friends would get annoyed having to pose for so long haha. Another thing is pictures can get a little bit over-saturated, but you could turn it down a notch. Of course like most cameras, the quality is perfect in daylight, but i'd like to use my camera anytime 24 hrs.
Movie mode is a + with the exeption of it only being able to "digital zoom" during a movie(no point in zooming because quality lowers the more u zoom). But as this camera rivals with the canon SD500 or 550, its the same. i was able to test it at the shop. in fact I don't know any digi cam that can "opt zoom" during a movie, so that quality wouldnt change, but if you do, let me know! The reason why chose this over the SD500/550 is because its manually operated/functional where as the canon is just point-and-shoot, more "automatically", but sometimes that's not such a good thing because u want to be able to adjust things.
battery life is a +++ (record breaking), but i guess thats the reason for grainy LCD in low light and weak flash. Oh and did i mention it has a crzy-grainy LCD display at night? not to be confused with grainy PICTURES at night. ITS BOTH.
the resolution isn't really that good for a 7.2mp, not to mention that the files for are overwhelming big and waste of space on the computer. Sadly usually i set it to 5.0mp resolution because it has the same effect + smaller size files. Every now and then i regret getting this camera.
about the physical qualities of it..i'v heard a lot about its fragile LCD and optical zoom so i tried to be really careful with it. I've heard that it tends to turn on by itself while in the bag therefore the opt zoom breaks. I havent had any "breakage"..............yet. (hopefully, i'll edit this review one day to a "never".)
Overall its very useful and has a lot of functions; thats whats keeping me from giving it a 3, but for sure its not a 5.
