Very small camera with strong performance

After tiring of hauling around SLR type digital cameras, I purchased this camera as a competent replacement that I could slip into my pocket. I'm no professional photographer, but like to have my pictures look nice and this camera really fits the bill.

Likes:
The size - it is remarkably small. I purchased this site unseen, only relying on reviews and was shocked to see how small it was in relation to it's features. Extremely portable, make sure to use the wrist strap so that you don't end up dropping it.
The battery - This thing seemingly NEVER runs down. I take pictures probably two or three days out of the week, and I am running on a full charge after 25 days of use with this camera. It is unbelievable, by far the longest lasting battery I have ever experienced with a camera.
The display - Nice, sharp 2.5" LCD, works wonderfully
The best shot settings - gives a lot of options and includes different movie settings too
Movie setting - sharp 30 fpm, as clear as any video camera I have ever had

Dislikes:
The zoom - After having a camera with a 10X optical zoom, the 3X leaves me wanting, but it really is a rare instance that I really need it, just a nice to have that I miss
Expensive accessories - You either have to place it in the dock or buy an expensive cable to display the pics on a TV

Overall, this was a very good purchase for me and an excellent choice for a point and shoot hi res digital camera. The zoom is the only thing keeping me from rating this 5/5

Likes: LCD Screen - virtually no lag, sharp and detailed pictures. Love the calender playback mode which allows you to see which photos you took on certain days. Lightning fast turn on and shot-to-shot times. Battery life is exceptional (this was one of the main reasons I bought this camera, I figure what good is a camera if it lies dead in your backpack - this battery is good for a day of shooting +). Solid metal and plastic body which could probably take some abuse. The camera definetly has a wow factor with the combination small body/large lcd/lightning fast boot times.

Dislikes: Optical viewfinder is useless, low-light performance is subpar due to small flash and noise at higher iso(s). Photos are a tad bit oversaturated but this can be adjusted in the camera settings. Cradle seems a little flimsy compared to the camera but does the job.

Summary: Overall this is one of the best subcompacts I have owned. I prefer this one over the Sony Cybershots because I think it has better handling for its size, yet it's small enough to stash away in a shirt pocket. It makes a great companion for those quick shots that you just can't miss, and the movie modes are some of the best i've seen - including a mode that starts recording 5 seconds before you even press the shutter so you are sure to capture the shots you are looking for. I personally wouldn't use the camera for large prints above the 11x14 range, but I feel that is more than adequate for smaller print sizes. Of course noise will only be a major issue if you are trying to produce large prints from this camera, which I would personally leave to a dSLR in low-light settings. While probably not suitable for "pro" applications, Any average user will be more than pleased with this camera, as its use is intended for.

  Great fun until it breaks

For a compact camera, the EX-Z750 has great controls, good picture quality, great display size - a pretty good camera on average. BUT the camera has several major flaws: first, the LCD screen is very fragile and exposed. Mine broke while in a protective case after 2 months - cost $270.00, No LCD damage repairs are covered under the warranty. Second, the zoom and camera lens extender has a tendency to die, third, the optical view finder (a big plus, because the huge screen is hard to see in bright light) sometimes locks up when you zoom in and out, and forth, you must dock it in it's cradle to charge, download, or output video. If I had it to do over from scratch, I would buy a different camera, but while it worked it sure was fun!

Casio EXILIM EX-Z75 Not the best , yet not the worst

i bough this orignally from this very site Ebay for $290 (s/h included, oct 2005) and i've had it for a few months now and everything still works fine. I upgraded from an older casio (exz50). Pictures are excellent with the exception of low lights such as at night; it gets pretty grainy, even with flash. This was the same with my older casio (exz50). i think it is one of casio's major flaws. the flash is also very weak. To make up, I like to use one of its "best shot" mode: "night", but its a slow shutter so u have to be very still for a while or its gonna get messed up (blurry specificallly). But that function would only be practical with scenaries, because your friends would get annoyed having to pose for so long haha. Another thing is pictures can get a little bit over-saturated, but you could turn it down a notch. Of course like most cameras, the quality is perfect in daylight, but i'd like to use my camera anytime 24 hrs.

Movie mode is a + with the exeption of it only being able to "digital zoom" during a movie(no point in zooming because quality lowers the more u zoom). But as this camera rivals with the canon SD500 or 550, its the same. i was able to test it at the shop. in fact I don't know any digi cam that can "opt zoom" during a movie, so that quality wouldnt change, but if you do, let me know! The reason why chose this over the SD500/550 is because its manually operated/functional where as the canon is just point-and-shoot, more "automatically", but sometimes that's not such a good thing because u want to be able to adjust things.

battery life is a +++ (record breaking), but i guess thats the reason for grainy LCD in low light and weak flash. Oh and did i mention it has a crzy-grainy LCD display at night? not to be confused with grainy PICTURES at night. ITS BOTH.

the resolution isn't really that good for a 7.2mp, not to mention that the files for are overwhelming big and waste of space on the computer. Sadly usually i set it to 5.0mp resolution because it has the same effect + smaller size files. Every now and then i regret getting this camera.

about the physical qualities of it..i'v heard a lot about its fragile LCD and optical zoom so i tried to be really careful with it. I've heard that it tends to turn on by itself while in the bag therefore the opt zoom breaks. I havent had any "breakage"..............yet. (hopefully, i'll edit this review one day to a "never".)

Overall its very useful and has a lot of functions; thats whats keeping me from giving it a 3, but for sure its not a 5.

Just what I was looking for, but may not be for you..

The Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z750 7.2 Megapixel digital camera was just what I was looking for. It has amazing picture quality, a huge LCD display screen (2.5 inches), has an incredibly small size and is very light weight. However the screen is very sensitive and is very suseptible to breaking. I already have several little stress cracks on mine. Also the zoom is not the best but it gets the job done. I love the camera and would recommend it to anyone who wants a small camera with really high quality pictures but is going to treat it with a lot of care and not mind the zoom. I give it a 4/5. Hope this helps and if you have further questions, feel free to drop me a message. Later, Nick

I decided to buy this camera due to I own one of these already. This is an excellent camera, small in size yet big on features. It does a great job with power source, meening, the battery last such a long time without recharging. It takes great pictures, including large pictures due to the high pixel rating. When I purchased mine at circut city, I payed alot more for that one then this one on Ebay. I have found ebay to be very resourceful and a money saving adventure when I surf. Thank you very much Ebay for the chance to save and make extra money. There is nothing bad about this camera.

Thank you...George.

well , very nice & cool
My only complaint is that the menu system on the camera makes you click one times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions.
Overall, I'd recommend the camera if you're on a budget.

I love this camera. This is actually a replacement to the one my son and I broke while horseplaying (yep, we should know better). On the plus side, my first one surrived an auto accident I had not too long after buying it. I have tried a couple other newer cameras after the first one broke, but just was not happy with them, so I got this replacement on ebay. One of the things I am sold on is the fireworks video setting (under Best Shots menu), beautiful video. The pictures are great whether taking them indoors or outdoors. I have pictures and video of my kids, my pets, my neighbor's kids, sporting events, school functions, etc. The battery life is awesome. I carry the camera with me everywhere, it fits perfectly in my purse. Another thing I like is video format MPEG-4, which I prefer over quicktime. I purchased one for my husband for work, and he is very happy with his, too. Overall, I would recommend this camera, and I intend on purchasing another one for a family memeber.

If you are comptemplating buying this camera you are demonstrating that you have superior intellegence, that you have risen above the masses and you are an independant thinker! This camera is the absolute best buy for the money. My brother researched various cameras, I convinced him to buy this one. His wife loved it so much he had to buy another one.

Recently, I lost this camera, a huge lost. I was distraught because I needed to replace it. After researching the new cameras on the market, even the new Casios, I was convinced that this camera was still the best value for the money, so I bought another one! I love it when a brand of camera (Casio) which has a small share of the market out performs and cost less the major brands(Canon). Buying this camera is a smart choice.

I got the Casio Exilim EX-Z750 7.2 MP camera with carrying case and memory card for a great price. I was very happy, but I gave the camera as a present and was embarassed to find out that it was obviously previously used. I had only looked at the camera briefly before i wrapped it, so i didn't see the small dent in the camera, wear on the case, or pictures and videos filling the memory card. Also, the directions had writing all over them. The condition was left blank in the description section when selling, but it was called "open box" which was explained as someone was unhappy with it, it was fixed by the manufacturer and being sold again. This was not the case at all. The memory card was full of pictures and videos of a dance recital. I suppose i should have been more careful, but the true condition of the camera should have been made clear. It was used.

Thank you

This is one fine multitalented very compact digital camera. I loved it so much I bought one for my husband. The one requirement that I needed was a optical viewfinder in addition to a large 2.5" screen. I live in Florida and I take mostly outdoor pics. With the sun so bright, it can be especially hard to see images using the big screen. So I often revert to the optical viewfinder.
It's pictures are so sharp and the camera is very user friendly.
