Not Just a Guy Film

The prior reviews here seem to indicate that this is a "guy film," and that just isn't the case. There are some very touching moments in the film, and the emotions are all out there (and earned). Sure, there are a few juvenile pranks, but those merely serve as foils for the sometimes depressing story of a young guy trying to get over his first real relationship in college.
In the end, the film is noteworthy because it is one of the few in recent years that takes responsibility for its buildup. Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts do not get together at the end, because of some grand scheme, or a sudden epiphany where they realize what the audience could see was coming from scene 1. This film ends as it does because of the events leading up to it - not some deus ex machina's contrivance.
Really, it's quite entertaining, and better yet, plausible.
