Carrier (DVD, 2008, 3-Disc Set)

I decided to buy Carrier for my husband who is retired from the Navy. He was on an air craft carrier during his time in the Navy. This was the perfect gift for him!

I was amazed at the life abroad a US Navy carrier. Really enjoyed the parts about the actual pilots and the flight crews. Not only was it amazing, but the visuals were outstanding--makes you wish that you were younger and much more talented. This documentary was eye opening and a must for teenagers. I have personally watched it 3 times and bought this copy for one of my granddaughters 15th birthday --she is interested in being a Navy or Marine pilot.

Very enlightening about carrier life on a modern day floating city. You get a taste of many facets of life aboard a carrier. Not sure that the carrier is a required function anymore but the show goes into many lifestyles that are living together onboard in harmony.

I became completely addicted to Carrier. I love the stories, the soundtrack, the themes the producers choose to work with. I think it probably is a little biased in that they didn't exactly pick the "Average Joe" sailor, but it makes for some thought provoking TV as well as opens your eyes to the life experiences and backgrounds of the people serving this country. I was very impressed with the program and watched it three times in its' entirity on PBS. Was thrilled to find it on Ebay cheaper than pbs.org

If you have ever wondered what life is like for guys in the navy aboard a ship or carrier this a dvd set you need to watch. The series goes in depth and gets you right into the lives of the guys from the cooks to the pilots and everyone in between. Throughout the movie you will encounter the navy guys ups and downs in life whether it be problems he or she is having on the ship or a problem back at home which they have to deal with being thousands of miles away at sea. I watched this series first on netflix and liked it so much I bought it after watching it since nothing I have seen in the past gives you such an in your face in depth experience of what it is truly like.

I bought this DVD for my son and his father to view Navy life. My son joined the Navy in 2007.The DVD shows the true life on an aircraft carrier. My son told me that he wished he had seen this DVD before joining the Navy just to know what Navy life would be for him. I disliked that the language was very explicit. I wanted my family to watch this film but was uncomfortable for them to view it due to the language. I really was hooked on the drama of the people involved in the series. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this film. PBS films are know for their factual information and film quality.

I'm a army brat and never watched anything close to showing all walks of life living in harmony for 6months at a time! Great sales presention for the NAVY since my daughter now is leaning towards a NAVY career then 4yrs in college but we know kids they change their mind like they do their underwear? Often I hope!

Great patrioticDVD.... wonderful DVD ....we watched a few episodes on PBS but missed several of them. This is the bestway to watch them all. 10 episodes.... all for one price....

Great video about USS Nimitz and their life on board. It is interesting to learn about the operation of the combat and routine procedures. Nice copy and well worth for documentary liberay.

Lots of action; but is slightly boring at times. I can do without the foul language though! 10 hours long makes it worth the money, & unlike watching a PBS station You get to choose when to watch it! There is one episode dealing with Carrier landings in rough seas which was awesome to watch with the ship pitching up, & down about 30 feet with f-18's missing the catapults so many times they had to be refueled in mid air!
