The Magic Tree House books do exactly what pleasure reading is supposed to do - transport us to a different time and place. Each adventure is fraught with cross-curricular lessons with unlimited classroom potential. These are GREAT for the reading center! Students can listen AND hear fluid, fluent reading as they enjoy and learn. It's a WIN-WIN situation.
Also, if my children were still small, I'd carry the CDs in my car and we would all listen as we travel.
