Even after almost 30 years, this album stands on its own. We are not quite quite sure what inspired Elton to produce such a wonderful album. All that I can think after looking back on this album is that he knows how to paint the words in a song.
The only hit that ever got any play in the United States from this album was Someone Saved My Life Tonight, but I can't even remember the last time that I ever just listened to one song from this Album. The entire album is a masterpiece.

The reason for buying this CD is that as a teenager my sife had this LP. She throughly enjoyed the LP then as she enjoys the CD now. The reprodution art was exactly as the album was according to her!!! I would reccommend this to anyone who is wanting to "relive" some of thier youunger days as it is exactly as the album was. The only thing missing is the noise of the needle!!!!

This is not one of Elton's best albums but its still an Elton John classic all the way.
I like a good portion of this album. Mainly the "filler" cuts on the album such as "Writing," "(Gotta Get A)Meal Ticket," and of course the title track, "Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy." This album was short on singles which is what I like because one tends to get "burn-out" after so may years of hearing the hits.
I decided to purchase this album/CD for the memories it brings back while listening to some great filler tracks.

Elton still rocksAfter all these years, the man can still rock. I like the blend on this cd cause I can crank it up, and do house chors or crank it up and do barn chores. Or just crank it up!!
