I WAS LOOKING ONE DAY ON EBAY & SAW THIS & TOOK A LOOK AT IT. IT WAS A REAL GOOD PRICE. IT HAS ALL THE BEATLES CAPITOL ALBUMS ON IT & IT SOUND'S REAL GOOD. I DO LIKE THE BEATLES.

Personally I would have preferred a mixture of UK and US mixes where if only the US mixes were available in stereo they would be used. The UK mixes are generally cleaner (without the reverb/echo effect). However, I understand Capitol wanted to keep the same mixes as the original LPs in the US. I hope, for us audiophiles, the entire Beatles catalog will be issued someday in DVD-Audio 5.1 surround. It was be a great seller!

After the mammoth release on 09-09-09 of the remastered Beatles UK catalogue, and the Mono Releases, purchasing this set now may appear like overkill. Why would you purchase this when you can have the new remastered product?
The answer lies in the fact that these releases were what North American Beatle fans were used to. Their early records, in the song format/order they recognized. "Meet the Beatles" "The Beatles Second Album" "Something New" and "Beatles 65", are exact replicas of the original American Capitol Beatles "Butchered" catalogue. For a long time Beatles fans have complained that these releases are Butchered... the American releases are re-formatted and songs are added and left off. This "butchering process" for American release is chronicled by Beatles expert Bruce Spizer in a 43 page colour/b/w picture booklet. He details how the American releases took shape and were a true departure from their UK record releases.
Simply for the American uniqueness, this box set is worth purchasing. Do you want to know how Beatles songs were processed and re-packaged for American release? Do you want to re-live your Beatles youth when you went into Woolworths or Woolco and purchased one of these albums for the princely sum of $4.00?

The early recordings of The Beatles were first issued in the United States in 1963, albeit with hardly any success as the group was all but virtually unknown here in America. However, it was in late December of that year that their music was finally catching on stateside, when radio stations throughout the country began playing imported copies of the British single "I Want To Hold Your Hand". Capitol saw the potential in the unique English quartet, and officially released the single here on December 26th. Starting in February 1964, Beatlemania exploded across North America with a fever pitch that skyrocketed in full-force when 73 million people saw them perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. Throughout the remainder of the year, the fab four would totally dominate popular music like nobody else. Capitol issued 4 albums; "Meet The Beatles!", "The Beatles' Second Album", "Something New" and "Beatles '65". There were also Beatles recordings released on the Swan, Vee-Jay and United Artists labels, as well. The Beatles would go on to win the 1964 Best New Artist Grammy award. This set contains the original albums on CD in both Stereo and Mono versions, housed in authentic reproductions of the album covers, all contained in an attractive box. There is also a booklet included which documents this phenomenon in remarkable detail, in words and pictures. Mastered from the original American master tapes, the sound is exactly as it was first presented. "The Capitol Albums, Vol. 1" is like a time capsule of a very special occasion.

Great set of the Beatles first 4 Capitol US released albums. Each cardboard CD cases is an exact replica of the LP record album jacket, front and back, and each CD has all the songs in Stereo and in Mono.

FANTASTIC idea by Capitol. These American albums have NEVER been released on CD before, so it's really great to have the first 4 albums that were released in the United States in 1964.

A MUST HAVE for any Beatles fan.

An amazing box set. You get tthe Stereo and mono versions of each LP on the CD. These are the actual American releases. Even the cover look just like the original LP covers. No CD cases my friend all cardboard. If you grew up with the orginal recordings you will be happy to hear them again. If not you might not see what all the fuss is about, and the British CDS with the crisp clean sound may just be fine with you. This however was what Beatlemania sounded like in 1964 America. The CDS look loike the old rainbow Capitol label. So cool. Don't miss out on Vol. 2 either its great as well. Now Capitol give us collectors something we really want. a Vol 3 and 4 with The important albums of the bunch. The Butcher Cover Yesterday and Today, Sgt.Pepper Mono, Magical Mystery Tour Mono, The Beatles White Album mono

More from the Fab Four. This CD Box set is a compilation of four albums recorded with Capitol Records (Meet The Beatles, Second Album, Something New and Beatles ´65). Each album is presented in mini Lp format and included the same songs from originals editions, but in stereo and mono recording. Is for collectors (like me) but you don´t find nothing new in this box set.
