Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 (PlayStation 2, 2001)

This is a great game that I first played in the arcade and game room at my college. It appealed to me because it combined elements from the challenging Street Fighter Alpha games with the relatively obscure elements from the SNK fighting games. Compared to a former favorite fighting game of mine, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, this game has considerably more depth, challenge and balance, yet less excitement and replay factor (MvC2 forced you to play continuously to earn EX points allowing you to unlock more characters and costumes) than the game subtitled "New Age of Heroes." I also liked how this game brought back the old school vibe of the fighting games being tournaments held by the bosses, as opposed to the new trend where the characters are teaming up in inexplicable collaborations to defeat mystic evil powers. The lack of magic series and cheap infinity combos fortifies the throwback feel of this game, but don't fret, the variety of Super Combos via the Grooves (expanding on the ISM's in the Street Fighter Alpha games) gives it a fresh feel, resulting in one of the most unique fighting game experiences I've ever had. The developers here seemed to have successfully bridged the gap between several generations of fighting games and the end result is sure to keep me playing for countless months.

I played this game when I was just learning the Street Fighter/King of Fighters basics. I even learned about more characters from the Capcom and SNK universes.

Pros:

- Great old school 2D fighting graphics
- Excellent cast of characters
- Tons of characters to choose from
- Fast paced
- 3 on 3 battles
- Ratio system is nice
- Many fighting styles available
- A couple characters to unlock

Cons:

- I wish you could switch out your character during a round like in the Versus games.
- The sprites are a bit more pixelated than they should be

I bought this game because it included many of my favorite fighting characters from when I was growing up.

capcom vs snk is one the best 2d fighters to this day. the gameplay is very fluid and innovating considerin you get dodge, roll, run ect. its classic gameplay with a slightly new feel. this game is almost flawless except for a few things. one the amount of attacks. this my personal as a bonefide street fighters fan. many people would find the many moves and specails interesting and fun but personally think three specials is enough. the snk characters are packed with like six or seven and some is really useless. second is the limited amount of stages. this is definetly no sf alpha game. there is only few stages in the game.....like six or seven, not sure but its under ten. there's things thatt aannoy me but thats only because im too picky.
GAMEPLAY 5/5 fighting is sweet. i personally do not like snk and if you are a real of the fighting genre, you'll see the difference quickly. good thing about that is that it appeals to the fans
SOUND 3/5 there are classic songs but news annoy the hell outta me. thumbs down
GRAPHICS 5/5 its a neo classic fighter and it stays with its roots. stages look nice too
OVERALL 4/5 good game. some things bring down its replay value, but it has a huge cast of fighters to master. is there really more to in that classic genre

i collet fighting games ikip 2 copys of evething one i save and one to use. thise game is very rare is more comple them marvel vs capcom 2 for ps2 if you fight in a honest way. is one of the vest streefighter ever.

What I like most about this game is the selection of characters to choose from and the entire design of the game. I love how the chracters look, and I love the gameplay. However what I dislike is the complexity of understand all of the groves, and how hard it is to do one attack. Other than that the game is a great one to have. If you want to step it up I suggest Marvel Vs Capcom 2. This is one of the best games on playstaion 2.

I have being playing this game for years,and I can tell this game is well built.The action is fantastic and the fighting styles are great.There are allot of characters to choose from and all the characters have unique abilities.The speed is not too fast which is very important in a fighting game,and its the skills you have that pulls you through not just straight power like most of other fighting games built.I would recommend this fighting game to all you fighting game lovers out there.

I like this game because it's like Street Fighter mixed with King of Fighters. Also, I played this long time ago and it was one mf my favorite games. I love the characters on there especially Ryu and Joe. The only thing I didn't like about this game was it only had one character from Darkstalkers which is Morrigan. I wish they had at least two more other characters from there. I decided to buy this game because I played it at the mall and it reminded me that I should buy it instead of going to the mall to play it all the time. Last but not least, the price was a great deal. Thank you very much.

This game is an accumulation of the efforts of amazing talents of Capcom and SNK. If you can't get your hand on a naomi gd-rom of this game, you should treat yourself to one of the many versions available. Ps2, XBOX, Gamecube (and therefore Wii) as well as the closest port to the original, on Dreamcast. I would have went with the DC version, except the controllers leave a bit to be desired on fighting games, and the joysticks for that machine are way too expensive for a good set. The ps2 version doesn't include that EO mode of the XBOX or Gamecube, which I see as a plus.

All in all, this is one of the funnest fighting games to ever be created. No matter what kind of video game fan you are buying it for, they will more than likely recognize one of the characters and pick up on it right away.

I Like this kind of fighting games but can't see any new release titles for PS3.
So, I stared to buy these classic SNK games to pass some time until Sony releases the new KOF game.

It showed up in great shape like advertised. Works better than my own games! I definatly would buy more games from here in the future.

Great game to play with. Very fun and will not be disappointed if you were to buy the game. This is a good collectors item, with all the street fighter series games out there.

This game is my personal favorite fighting game of all time.

The reasons are simple: it has, in my opinion, the best cast in a fighting game (drawing people from the Street Fighter II series, Street Fighter Alpha series, Darkstalkers series, the Final Fight series, the King of Fighters Series, the Fatal Fury series, the Samurai Showdown series, the Art of Fighting series, etc).

I would rate the graphics as solid: while not on par with today's next-gen best sellers, they look nice, colorful, and exactly what you'd expect from a Capcom 2D fighting game.

The gameplay, for a 2D fighting game, is second to none in my opinion. The different grooves (along with customs one) makes this game a true compilation of gameplay found in many games (Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III, King of Fighters, etc).

It builds up on the solid foundations of Capcom and SNK's traditional fighters and is not as over-the-top or overly-complicated as other games these companies have produced.

This to me a trully the best of the best of 2D fighting games. If you need to own a 2D fighting game, I'd say this is the one.

This game has it all, great animation, tons of moves, huge variety of characters... pretty much everything that makes a fighting game a hit!

Possibly the best fighting game made to answer all fighter fans before have talked about. Ryu vs. Terry? Akuma vs. Blood Iori? All those are answered here!

The game works just fine and it got to my mailbox very quickly. My only complaints is that the disc was somewhat scratched and it's case was pretty much broke and flimsy. BUT THE GAME WORKS, so no big deal.

i like both capcom and snk together you got a winner with top notch fighters i dont dislike it cause its the best of both game names combined i love it most definet smash hit

it was aloy easier than going to gamestop and not getting exactly what you want (missing case no instruction book) definetly a good resource if you collect games

This game is great game, had lots of great graphics and great moves for players to do. Yes, I would recommended to other people that I know to buy or to play it. The only thing not so great, is that you have to keep playing it til you get all players unlock or even all areans unlock. The reason I decide to buy this game game was that I love fighting games and this one look like it was going to an exciting to owen. And i was right it is a great game to have and to own.

I remember playing Capcom vs Snk (Dreamcast) and thought it was the coolest game ever. When I saw that there was a sequel to it, Capcom vs Snk 2 (Playstation 2), I knew right away I had to get my hands on it. This is a very fun game and kind of similar to Marvel vs Capcom with awesome super moves and what not.

I love the game, it is how i expected it. The cover was really well taken care of and it had the manual in the case. We have been trying to pass the levels without using the manual, so its been really fun trying to figure out the levels.

Quick, Accurate, and Swift. I received the item within very quickly. I bought it on a weekend and it came to me by Monday afternoon. The item was undamaged, a bit smudged up on the box but nothing that could not be washed/fixed. Everything was in order.
