The Canon ZR830 definitely is a camcorder that does not disappoint. The price isn't a wallet buster and you also get a extremely well made product for what the cost is. Having been an owner of a later model Canon ZR camcorder it is nice to see that this new one has a built in camera mode which allows you to take snapshots on top of recording video. The LCD view screen is a good size, not too big and not too small. The color is sharp and crisp. The camcorder is small enough to fit inside a bag and doesn't way a whole lot. It has the function to record in widescreen or 4:3. Zoom response is ok, but it does take the camcorder a few seconds to focus in low light situations.
Overall the camcorder is a great buy and would be even better if you could find it on sale. It is one of the top sellers on www.newegg.com and will not disappoint you.

The description of the item was perfect!!! I decided to buy the product because it was affordable. Also, I was looking for a new camera with multiple functions, asuch as digital and a camcorder. This item is perfect to catch all of the special moments for time to come.

We are a sports video production facility. We have the Panasonic DVX 100-b and the Canon Xl-1, This is the best little cam to put in your pocket when space is a concern. In your snowboard jacket pocket, glove box. whatever. The lighting is great in low conditions and have never had a glitch. If and when it does, you get another one at this price.

This is pretty neat camcoder.
1 - Price is superb
2 - Zoom away! If you love zoom feature for your camcoder, you won't be disappointed! (1000x digital zoom!)
3 - Super compact. lightweight and just the right size.
4 - I like the option for an SD and a miniDV
5 - Easy to use, well not that comlicated (lol)
CON:
1 - Not recommended for night use, or not-so-clear-day or area.
2 - Be very careful not to drop it!
All in all, it's worth the money your paying!
