Canon XH-A1 3CCD HDV Camcorder is pal or ntsc if i bouy it with jersey store? Is it a good idea to buy this camera if i live in france: is it difficult to "renvoyer" the camera if it is broken or else?
I am so used to dealing with high pressure dealers in the NYC and Jersey area I expected the same from these guys with there great (LOW) advertised prices. They did try to sell some additional items to me but NOT high pressure, like the other vendors. They suggested and then respected my wishes.
I am pleased with my dealings with Jersey Photo and the cameras I purchased from them. I won;t hesitate next time to go back to them for my camera needs!
I bought two of these cameras specifically to shoot local theatrical productions, edit them in Final Cut Pro and produce an SD DVD. What I get is a broadcast quality standard definition DVD that just wows the cast compared to the stuff they used to get with typical miniDV shoots. They also know they better make sure their makeup is perfect when I'm shooting because the camera WILL see it...from 100 feet away. Its easy to use, but has every manual control that I need to produce a professional, clean shoot including focus, zoom and aperture rings. It also can be set to be used for point-and-shoot use when you need to. You can set any combination of settings, and then save them for later recall, so it's easy to go from a professional mode to a consumer mode with the touch of a button. You will fall in love with this camera.
First and foremost, I've own several Canon Camcorders before. This being my fourth Canon and first Hi-Definition Camcorder. My reason for purchase is simply because I have been super happy with my old Canon cameras. They have never quit on me despite my abuse and continue to film like new today.
What I like about this camera is functionality of a professional camera. You've got video gain, audio meters, XLR audio inputs, focus and iris ring on the lens... Just about all the features you find in your $10k+ Camera.
So far I have not found any dislikes. But I will re-post if I do.
Camera functions like its suppose to do. The on-board mic is good but I wouldn't recommend using it for Pro-Video. I think that's why Canon included in the camera a shotgun Mic holder. Thanks Canon!
Low light shooting is okay. There is a gain switch that works okay but You will get grainy footage.
Overall the camera's looks professional and I would say it performs beyond my expectations.
Companies like PMI Digital are the reason ebay is successful in my book. I had several questions which were answered quickly. It was very easy to get a hold of these guys and they delivered just as they promised. There was feedback after the purchase which was just as enjoyable as making the purchase. Great job guys. I would definitely recommend you to friends and confirm the excellent experience as well as purchase from you again.
Price was very competitive. There were less expensive prices listed with real shaky reviews. The accolades given by other ebay customers made the difference and the experience was above excellent. Thumbs up.
well the xha1 is in excellent condition but the lcd few days later get a shadows and i didn't use the camera o drop i have 12 years in this business i know how is work anything they dindt' change the camera for a new one well .....

This is a great Mini DV (HDV) camera. You will also have to invest in equipment for this camera, an extended battery like the BP-970, a stabilizer like a Steadicam Merlin or DVMultiRig Pro; if your are in a tight budget a SpiderBrace, an external mic, 72mm Lens filter to protect the glass, a Travel Backpack, a tripod like the Induro A114 with a head like the Manfrotto 501.
Pros:
1. Has three 1/3" CDD optical sensors 2. 20x optical zoom 3. Min Illumination 0.4 lux 4. Excellent video quality 5. Extremely customizable 6. Great lens and optical stabilizer 7. Fast and customizable focus 8. Simultaneous SD and HD output. 60i, 24F, and 30F modes 9. FireWire remote 10. XLR inputs
Cons 1. No S-Video I/O. 2. No SDI and timecode 3. 24F and 30F modes degrade vertical resolution 4. No 720p mode 5. LCD display is small 6. Pricey
This camera is fairly compact for all of the features it has. These are what separate it from the rest of the field in its price class.
Crystal Clear Image. XLR Audio Inputs. External Video Hook-up. Custom Presets. SD Card Slot. Built in Mic holder. 20x optical zoom. Canon Support is next to none.
Cons:
Smaller LCD flip-out screen than the HDR-FX1
Some people complain about the performance out of the box. If you buy a camera this expensive though, you should research custom image settings before you do much shooting.
Conclusion:
Overall the value and build of this camera make it one of the top in its class. Compared to my HDR-FX1 this camera has almost every feature plus expanded Pro Audio Capabilities and easier to manage custom presets.
Pros: Easy to use, features are pretty much self explained. Point and shoot! Sound is good, picture is clear and crisp. Having the three rings makes it easy to adjust the focus, zoom and iris. Lots of manual adjusting and capabilities!
Cons: The standby switch is easy to hit until you get use to it. Gets a bit heavy for handheld work, I recommend using a monopod or tripod.
it has everything. crystal clear picture. it has so many feature more than you need. the customer service is excellent. they are very knowledgable, helpful.
