Canon Speedlite 430EX II TTL Flash

I don't even like flash photos. But with this and using the "bounce" technique. Golden. Its a fast response and very durable.

The Canan 430EXII flash was beyond my expectations! One word for item "PERFECT"..

I love this flash. At first I was concern about the size of it, but as soon as it arrives I noticed that it was not that big nor heavy which is good. Immediately I added some batteries and started testing it. I was impressed with the results. Very good lens. Highly recommended.

The amateur photographer who needs a comfort zone for pictures taken out of sunlight need a flash that will reach out further than ten feet. The purpose of this purchase was to insure I would capture the subject matter regardless of the distance of the picture. This flash is exactly what I needed to accomplish the preservation of memories that I so richly want to keep.
It is not the best flash nor is it the worst. It is above average for the amateur. Professionals would require more light for their shots, so if you are in my catagory of photography, this is the flash for you.

wokrs great. I use the 580ex on camera and I use my 430ex II as a slave off camera. I knocked over my light stand and 430ex II the first week and it survived a pretty hard hit to the concrete. Love the new shoe mount instead of the dial screw thingy. They removed the master slave external switch but I take mine in and out of slave mode all the time by holding down the zoom button for a sec and its not a hassle. Great low cost portable flash and havent noticed a difference in power from the 580.

I love that you can move the flash around and bounce it off of walls and the ceiling. I have found that makes better photos that way. It's amazing how much better this flash makes photos, Huge difference. It's easy to use. I took about 150 photos within an hour mostly continuous shots of 6. The flash stopped working after an hour and had to recharge the batteries. I use the same type and brand batteries I have for my camera but the flash kills the batteries a lot quicker. I have an extra set of batteries for my camera but have decided it may be good to also have an extra set for the flash.
Other then that I am very happy with it.

This flash in automatic mode works flawlessly for fill flash and indoor photos. Depending on your camera you may need to tweak the compensation but other than that it is a point and shoot. When trying to use multiple flashes, second curtain sync and more advanced setups, it still takes it all in it's stride. The function to act as a modelling light to review shadows prior to taking pictures is also great. This should suit beginners all the way up to pro's.
