First day with the Canon Powershot Sx110IS and I am left very impressed. Although this may not be geared towards professionals, it is an outstanding value for the price, with great features for the average user. Pictures on auto settings look immediately better then any point and shoot digital camera I've tried in this price range. After experiencing 10x optical zoom, I do not see myself ever going back to the 3-5x optical zoom that comes standard with most point and shoot digital cameras.

Excellent Camera Easy to use and takes good pictures, Zoom comes in very handy. Battery life a little short but i prefer to use double AA instead of having to worry about recharging a recharge battery. As for the other review about a tracking # they should delete that off of this review.

Excellent Point & Shoot Camera w/Features!

This is a lightweight yet solid little camera. It takes wonderful pictures for its class and has a super zoom on it. It can be set manually or automatic, the menus & instructions are very easy. The large LCD screen is very nice. It has many features that one would expect on a more expensive camera. The movie mode is a nice feature but of course the quality there is not as good as the stills.
I purchased it because it seems like a very good camera for the price, having lots of useful features in a convenient package. We liked it so much on vacation that my husband got one too when we got home.
Definately would reccomend it.

This is a really excellent camera. The previous review by loancali65 should never have been posted. Apparently his problem is with shipping and tracking, which should be listed in feedback, not product review. For the money, this camera is a joy to use. My friend has the sx100, and I loved it so much, I got this one.

Canon Power Shot+ Harley = Fun Fun Fun

My husband and I have been taking the Canon PowerShot on all of our Harley rides ever since our purchase. Not only does it take Great pictures at a snails pace but even at 75 mph. I kid you not!!!! I am holding this camera as we roll down the highway. I take all directional pictures. I love to take pictures of my friends behind us, in front of us and beside us on their Harleys. This camera takes moving pictures like we are standing still. Unbelievable pictures. We also took it to an old cemetery and took night pictures. Looking at the pictures you would think it was daylight. It has such a bright flash that captures all images even in pitch dark... I love this camera and it is one easy way to capture all those special unexpected moments.......... F*A*N*T*A*S*T*I*C ........ Thanks.......Annette

  Great Camera, Great Price

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. This camera is great. The pictures turn out great and the zoom is awesome. I took my son to the zoo recently and this camera captured the eyes perfectly of an elephant that was more than 200 feet away. Micro is great for really small closeups. I researched for a while before deciding for this model and it's the best for it's price. I'm very happy with it and highly recommend it. :)

  Cannon - SX110 IS Camera / 9 MP - w/10X Optical Zoom

This camera is exceptional for the price! It has all the flexibility and options of the much higher priced cameras that I have priced in shops around town. A very comfortable design and user friendly. I am throughly satisfied with this product. I have always been a Sony customer, but now I will be looking at Cannon in the future. By the way, my camera repaire man that I visit for my Sony camcorder confirms that Cannon is every bit as good, easier to repair, and very affordable. More camera for less!

I am a big cannon user. I currently own a Cannon powershot SD750 and a Cannon Pixma MP470 multi printer and I love the quality. The SX110-IS has the same menus and features as Cannon's powershot series camera's, but the picture quality is even better. The 10X zoom takes clear detailed shots with no picture grain. The camera weight is a bit more than the other powershot camera's, but keep in mind this is geared more for the beginner to intermediate professional photographer. If you want great clear close up shots for a wedding or graduation, or sport event, and also want ease of use, this is the camera for you.Picture to PC transfer is easy as well. You can use either the software included or just drag and drop pics using windows explorer.Battery life is pretty good, I would recommend buying lithium batteries for longer life use. A nice advantage is that this camera uses " AA " batteries instead of a battery pack, so switching batteries out is real quick and easy. In an end conclusion, if you're looking for a camera with a better clearer zoom than the compact camera's and don't want to spend a ton of money, the SX110-IS is a good bang for the buck.

Big screen, easy to use, all around great buy! I bought it for my girlfriend for Christmas and she loves it. Definitely worth the price tag, not that the pricetag is very high anyhow.

The Canon SX110 IS turned out to be an amazing camera. I have always hated that with point and shoot cameras I have previously owned the consistency of getting great shots indoors was a crap shoot. This camera seems to take great pictures all of the time. I couldn't ask for more!

  Awesome Camera!!

I love this camera!! I'm a rancher so I spend a lot of time outdoors around many different types of animals. I was constantly saying, "I wish I had a camera!" but I didn't want to lug my parents' big camera around and I didn't want a camera with less than a 10X zoom because of all the long distance shots I take. Alas, no one seemed to make a small camera with that size of a zoom until now! My cousin had this same camera and when I realized it had a 10X zoom I had to check it out! I've had my camera for about 2 months now and I absolutely can't say enough about it!

This camera is fantastic - I love the 10X optical zoom and the large, clear screen. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a more "high-end" point-and-shoot camera -- you won't go wrong with this one!

I have used and owned many digital cameras but, this is the most
user friendly camera ever! It is also a camera for those who like
to experiment with different exposures because of its great manual
mode. Finally a camera for every situation and condition.

This is agreat camera, very good image, good magnification lens, great colors, has a lot of functions, (perhaps the only thing is that you should read the manual to use all the possibilities), is not heavy to carry on, and the price is very reasonable. I really think that Canon is one of the best for photografic images, better than Nikon, and Sony.

Seller did not honor his price on this item so I got a a Canon s5is instead for a couple bucks more.
This camera(the sx110) is one of the top cameras in its class. Wish I could have gotten it, but I am still happy with my S5IS.

i bought the canon powershot SX110 IS 9.0MP just a week ago. it is small and lightweight. i can put it in my pocket and bring it anywhere. the pros for this camera are the big display screen, the image stabiliser and the manual settings. the downside is using AA batteries. It would be better if it has lithium rechargeble batteries. overall, i am satisfied with it.

Canon PowerShot SX110 --- review and comments
Review created: 05/26/09
by:
1 of 4 people found this review helpful.

What I don't like about this camera (Canon SX110) is its power supply. Besides the battery covering lid is hard to use, the camera sucks power like a suburban sucks gas, faster than I realized. For this reason, I bought rechargeable batteries (AA size) and thought that I could save some money in powering up the camera. Unfortunately, it does no good. The rechargeable AA batteries nowadays are mostly of 1.2 volt d.c. Even fully charged, the 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries become dead after a few shots. I don't know if they produce 1.5 volt rechargeable batteries anymore. (I couldn't find any now). The two problems seems to be depending of each other. That forces me to buy regular 1.5 volt AA batteries. This in turn creates a third problem, which is the "environmentally unfriendliness". Now I have to think about how to manage the used batteries. What is good about this camera is its high resolution and big display screen (3"). The IS feature is good but does not mean much to me. To people with shaky hands, the IS feature will be good to them. Another praise about this camera is its macro feature in close up shots. You can get a high resolution macro shot at object distant of 0.5" away from the lens. I would like to see two enineering disign improvements in Canon SX110: (1) Redesign its power supply so that Canon rechargeable batteries can be used, (2) Redesign its body material from plastic to stainless steel (full enclosure stainless steel) like that of Canon SD550 Power Shots. Hope these help.
