my 14 year old took this camera on a boy scout trip to the florida keys. he is not the photographer that i am, and although he had some not so great photos, that was because of him and not the camera. He has some beautiful shots under water while snorkeling. Lobsters, colorful fish etc. I was extremely happy with my choice in umderwater cameras. It didn't have any reviews, i love canons, and thought it would be a good choice. IT WAS EXCELLENT. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to get my hands on it and see what it can really do.

Canon PowerShot D10 is best OUTDOOR camera

We love snorkeling, we often go the beach and outdoors and this camera is really made for outdoors! We own other great cameras but hesitate to take them to the beach (sand or rain can damage them!). We did not want to bother and use housing - it makes camera bulky and you need to put it in, take it out... Not for us. And cost of housing is high. This camera is made for the beach, for the sand, for the water activities! I'm looking forward to our next vacation and some nice underwater and beach pictures! Settings are very easy to navigate and quality of pictures are awesome (we have other Canon powers hot home - quality is hard to beat). Size is very good, lightweight is a plus, straps attaches and removes easily; it has all the conveniences we were looking for!

We bought this camera for a Christmas gift. We had one in the Bahamas and the pictures turned out above and below the water excellent. Since the Grand Children are in competetive swimming this was a wonderful gift to use around the pools.

  Fills a niche well

We bought this camera for a trip to Oahu. Primarily to take underwater photos of turtles and tropical fish. It gets the job done as well as other offerings in the same category. I used it at depths as great as 42 feet though it is rated for only 10 meters or 33 feet. The competition generally being rated to only 10 feet. I rated it four stars because the autofocus is a bit slow and the frame rate is limited to about a shot every few seconds. Generally if shooting in a surge current I found it a good idea to shoot a dozen images to get two or three keepers. Image quality was great on the surface and good underwater. Images on the surface suffered from the small lens diameter if there was a few drops of water clinging to the lens cover. You will not generally be able to get National Geographic quality underwater images but will be able to rival postcards occasionally.

  Canon Powershot D10

This camera produces high quality images! I tested it in the dark last night and the flash is more powerful than most point and shoot cameras, probably because it needs to be more powerful for underwater photography. I'm not used to using canon cameras, although I know they make quality equipment, and I was able to figure out the basics of how to use all the functions within about 15 minutes of playing around with the camera. It really does take good pictures.

I already have a nice Digital SLR that I use for most of my high end stuff. I realized, however, that I miss a lot of great shots simply because I don't always want to lug around my big SLR. So I was looking for a tough, durable point and shoot camera that I wouldn't have to worry about breaking and could pack around for everyday use. With this one being waterproof and shock resistant, plus with canons quality optics, I decided to go with it and I am not dissapointed in the least. It is a fairly expensive, but durable, and good choice for a backup to my digital SLR.

The only Con I see are that it is slightly bulky, but not bad, but it does feel different in your hands.

Minor adjustments, but overall AWESOME CAMERA!
Review created: 10/13/09

We bought this camera because A. It is the only one that can go down to 33' of water without housing. Olympus can only go to 10'. B. It takes awesome land pictures as well, and C. the price was right. I love that its a 12.1 mega pixel and the auto display automatically picks the right scenic mode. Like if you were shooting a flower you don't have to go to menu select "foliage" it automatically picks it. The shape could be an improvement. Its very bubbly and hard to hold at times. The speaker is on the bottom and thats where I rest my thumb to hold it. The volume can improve...when we play back videoes I can hardly hear it. I will be posting a review on Amazon too with pictures. The charger is compact and convenient to carry with you. Overall, this camera ROCKS!

  Canon waterproof digitalPowershot works great!
Review created: 10/12/09

This camera fit a specific need for my offshore fishing business. Its not only compact, and easy to operate, but also able to withstand the rigors of bouncing around a boat. The main fearure I purchased it for was the water tolerance. Not only is this camera able to take being splashed while on the boat, I can take it snorkleing down to 33'. Ontop of all this harsh enviorment features, its 12 megapixel is good for high quality photo's, and good video.
There are many more features built into the processor that I will likely never use such as an indicator to tell you if someone had their eyes closed! The zoom is on the limited size since its a waterproof unit, and the mechanics of it must be internal, but the range it does have is certainly better than a 'point and shoot'. This canera would make a very good all around camera, especially for the adventurous type that finds themself camping, hiking, fishing, etc., but also good for those with young ones that like to be involved in photography, since its shock resistant to 4' plus. I a have full sized digital Canon SLR, with all of the different lenses, and its great for specilized photography, by this little Canon offers a lot in a little package.

Henry

What a great camera. I trust Canon. We had the opprotunity to purchase a well know waterproof camera at a substantial savings but choose not to because of the reliability of Canon. Glad we made that choice. It gives great pictures both outside and inside of water.

This camera is awesome, Clearest shots, Easy to use, not as thin as most digital cameras but thats because you can go in the water up to 33 feet. If you need to see how thin it is, look around the web there are many 3d views of this thing, oh and i bought this after reading a bizzillion reviews on all the other underwater digital cameras from pentax to vivitar, Thanks, Pipefittermike on Ebay

Awesome camera. The newest underwater highest pixel camera on the market. The dealer I found on ebay had the accesories in the pictures that aren't included.
The leashes complete the sysytem because the camera has a female connection that twists on quickly. The three different cords are made of light metal.
The camera is one of the best on the market that include video mode, flash auto, and manual modes.
I would reccomend this camera for a trip to a beach or just hanging out with your family on the porch. An absolute must for water sports.

  Awesome Camera.
Review created: 08/10/09

I've only had my camera for a couple of weeks now, but I've definitely tested it. I've take it to the pool and even out to the lake. It has exceed my expectations. The Face Recognition worked over 100 feet away. The Digital Zoom is the best that I personally have seen. and I love that I don't have to worry about water ruining it. I was even able to take it out in a storm and take pictures. All in all, Great Camera.

great camera..indoor or outdoor. Image quality is excellent. Arguably the best compact waterproof camera on the market today. It doesnt hurt that you pay a bit extra for its waterproof capabilities compared to an ordinary camera.

Takes Complication Out of Picture Taking!
Review created: 07/08/09
by:

Okay, so this is my first underwater camera. I'm pretty much a camera novice yet I have had many cameras that I didn't like because they were too difficult to operate. I also don't like the slowness that most cameras suffer from. I like to take pictures one after another sometimes. This one takes awesome pictures and it seems to know the best settings.

I bought this camera to take on my upcoming cruise to the Cayman Islands. I also wanted something that I could use in my pool. I wanted a camera that shoots consecutive pictures fast, records good videos (with sound) as well as good stills. I wanted to make sure I found one that would take a beating and work underwater. This camera does all of these. Right out of the box, without making any adjustments or tweaking any settings I recorded my first video in the pool. here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvCpT-Q3_1o (remember, I'm a novice and this is my first Youtube upload, ever).

If you are going to get this camera, I also would recommend 4 or five extra batteries, and 4 or 5 extra 4 GB SDHC cards if you plan to be on long excursions. You should buy SDHC cards, but SD cards will also work (they just don't write/transfer as fast). You may also want to get a camera case as well to protect your investment.

I would recommend this camera for the novice or the pro-shooter. It definitely exceeded my expectations!

I decided to get this camera because of brand loyalty. i had a olympus 6000, although it took fine photos the response time on the shutter was not near as good as the canon, the photos are a bit grainy even in finest setting in variable conditions. the images the canon makes the movie feature, the quality of the camera and the timing of the shutter make this camera well worth the exchange and investment of the canon. This camera is a bit bulkier than the olympus making it a bit more cumbersome to store versus a tiny camera... after owning the olympus i would deal with the inconvience ten times over for the improved quality of photos. buy a small non waterproof canon if size is the only issue.
