Canon PowerShot A1000 IS 10.0 Megapixel

It's amazing the quality of pics and video you get from this camera for such a low cost. Image stabilization as well helps take the perfect picture!

I purchased this camera mainly to take photos of items I sell on eBay. The MACRO feature on this camera is amazing. This is a GREAT camera to purchase for taking close up pictures for listing items on eBay - your buyers will be VERY happy that you did so they can see what they are bidding on, and you'll actually get MORE money for your items that you'll pay for the camera in no time!

The only FAULT I see in this camera is that is does not come with a built-in rechargeable battery, so either bring extras with you on a trip, or get yourself some rechargeable AA's so that you don't spend too much on the alkalines.

You will love this camera - a friend recommended it to me and I recommend it to all! It's fast, easy to use, and takes incredible pictures.

This my second Canon PowerShot. I used my first one for many years to take photos of my grandchildren, our travel, and many local events. Many of my photos were published in the local newspaper and in school yearbooks. Some were used for videos in one of our local schools. I was so pleased with the quality of my PowerShot photographs. A few months ago, my husband borrowed my PowerShot to take with him and our two granddaughters on a canoe ride. The canoe tipped over and my camera went into the water along with the three of them. I saved the card, which had perfect photos, but the camera was ruined. I immediately ordered another PowerShot with increased megapixel. I love the new smaller size, the ease of use and the wonderful quality of this camera.

I have owned and used several Canon Powershot cameras and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone with a need to take pictures. I've also owned and used Minolta, Fuji, Kodak, Nikon and Polaroid and while they're all okay, I much prefer the Canons! One of my daughters insisted on a purple digital camera so this one is for her.

This canon is very compact and takes a great picture. It is so easy to use. I had a much more expensive canon camera that was given to me as a gift a few years ago. The power shot far surpases that one. The older one was bulky and took to long to take the shot. By the time it would take the shot, the moment had passed. This one is great with it's auto focus and face detection. It zero's right in on what you are shooting and quickly takes the shot. I cannot say enough about this camera. Best camera I have ever owned and it's a bargain.

I found nothing to dislike about this camera other than having to lower myself to read the manual to fully utilize the features. Takes a great picture. Just get an 8GB SD card and enjoy quality video and fantastic images.

I love it!!! My sister got one just like it for Christmas from heer husband and adult son. I saw her pictures and heard her pleasure, so went looking, and bought it. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! Is WONDERFUL. Even if I move, it still takes a clear picture. It is easy, small, handsome, and I am very pleased with it.

I bought the camera for my daughter, 21 years old, and she loves it. It is very simple to use and is compact to carry. The picture quality is suprising for a small camera. Would recomend without reservation!

I have an older ELF and it's starting to make a noise like it might want to die, so I though I'd buy another Canon. "shirt pocket" camera.

The A1000 is a good camera with all the features needed, but I am still at a loss for what I used to call "having the ability to paint a picture" by using focus and depth of feild. This is something that eludes these pocket cameras. And the other BIG thing that eludes is recovery time. THe recovery time between shutter clicks is at times very long and thus anoying. (Another way to say I missed a photo I really wanted while waiting for the camera to catch up.) OK, I know. Spend more money and get the features. But then you have a larger camera or a two volume instruction manuel about pressing two buttoms at the same time to effect the focus. Arg.....I can't do that. My fingers are too fgat, and I'll miss the shot again.

But I guess I'll get use to it or they'll come out with stronger batteries and beter bhyte readers that recycle faster. Am tyaking this camera to Greece and Paris in a ew weeks, so we'll see what we'll see. Wish me luck!

camera. I takes great photos. It is a very good & reasonable solution opposed to purchasing a REBEL.

This camera was a great package deal. I have used a 35mm camera for so long that it feels so small to be taking great pictures; I am sure I will get used to it though. It is very easy to use.

Very good camera, I purchased this Canon b/c my other one's LCD screen broke and it was time to upgrade anyways. Feels a little "dinky" compared to nice solid feeling metal body camera's, but you cannot argue with the picture quality for the price. Very good camera, happy I bought it.

The A1000 IS is an auto exposure only digicam providing auto, program, scene, and "Easy" shooting modes, each with a dedicated slot on the mode dial.

Auto: Point-and-shoot mode with limited user input
Easy: The camera makes all exposure decisions with no user input permitted except for flash on/off.
Program: Auto exposure with user input (sensitivity, white balance, etc.)
Scene: Presets include Portrait, Landscape, Night Snapshot, Indoor, Kids & Pets, and Special Scene (Night, Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, ISO 3200)
Movie: The camera records video at a maximum of 640x480/30 fps for up to 4 GB or 1 hour
The A1000 IS's menu system, accessed via a dedicated button beneath the compass switch, is logical, easy to navigate, and brutally simple – since the camera permits only minimal user input.

Love this camera. Needed something a little more portable for minor events than my Rebel XTI DSLR. Still has a lot of features and options for a small camera and I love the view finder option which a lot of small digitals do not have.

Camera was rated by Consumer report as a (CR) Comsumers recommended and I would hasve to say they were correct. Camera iseasy to operated and Very user Friendly... Takes great pics have nothing bad to say about it. For the average picture takes Camera is wonderful.
