Canon Optura 100 MC

I bought a Canon Optura 100 MC when it first came out so that I could record a family vaction in South Africa. The video taken during our trip was incredible, especially during a safari. I bought separate lenses for telephoto and wide angle shooting. The wide angle lens was the most useful. The internal lens floats for optical stabilization (avoids shaking) and this feature worked pretty well for me.

There is still-shot funcitonality with 1.3 megapixel resolution. You can store the image on tape or on an SD card. The resolution is poor by todays digicam standards but it comes in handy for capturing memories when you have the camcorder in your hand anyway.Using tape, you can grab a still image but record background audio.

I bought two spare batteries, including a very expensive extra high capacity battery. The batteries seems to become unreliable with age. Otherwise I have not had any problems with the Canon Optura 100 MC.
