The III+ is better than the III in battery cost & time

I owned the III for a year before changing to the III+, which I have had for several years. They look and act the same, except you will save on the cost of replacing 4 'AA' alkaline batteries. I forgot how long they last, but they last twice as long in the III+. Both units always gave me position information as long as enough sky (line of site) will show a few satillites.
I have used the III+ many times to Catilina Island (Avalon & Two Harbors), and once it was foggy all the way across to the last 1/2 mile when we poped out on course. I'm having a hard time letting it go since we sold the boat and bought a van with built in GPS navigation. Some day it will go on ebay :(
