Though I have at least one model from the entire EOS line. I never even bother to shoot the 700 or 850 or the 650. The A2 was the last one I needed to complete the collection. After running 10 rolls through the camera, I cannot understand why I waited so long to aquire one. First It is much lighter then the "1", "1N" or the "1RS" and has most of the features that I found so important in the other cameras. It is more robust than the elan or 10s.It is sort of like a RT on Steriods. The optional grip extension gives it great balance, and when equiped with the 24mm x 70mm F2.8 lens it is a dream in low light, medium wide angle, or short telephoto situations. I gave mine the test in the Black Hills, and Badlands of South Dakota. I had Wolf camera burn me some Hi-Rez disc's and I have been printing out some wonderful 16" x 20" posters that are every bit as good as my Mark II. The price was great (ebay at $39.00 without shipping) and the pop up flash which I always felt was ameurturish (sp), adds just enough light for fill flash shots without dragging out the TTL distributer, flashes, and cords required to shoot a high end shot. Don't get me wrong the flash will not replace that equipment but it is good in a pinch. If you could have only one modestly priced EOS, this is the one you want. It will not replace my high end cameras, but I can carry it around without worrying someone will steal it, or break it, and then I would feel terrible about it, after all I am not a pro, and I have to pay for my mistakes. Thanks for reading.

The Camera though outdated by todays camera standards. Is as great as most film camera's. I enjoy mine with the battery grip. It gives me a better grip and lets me take pictures from the grip instead of the Camera Body. The Automatic selection of film speeds due to light conditions causes alot of blurred photo's is the one big Negative I have.

This is a great light weight camera. I use it as a back/up to my Nikon F4 It takes some great pictures. There are a good number of accessories and lenses made for this camera whitch makes it nice. I would recomend it for a back/up or for someone who is starting out because of the ease of setting it up and the auto options it has. It has a fast auto focus and using the corect lens you will get great pictures.I have to say in my opinion it doesn't compare to the Nikon F4 and Canon in general has a holdback in the different lens moutning . But then this is an opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

  Canon A2. A great camera.

I bought the A2 because I wanted to move up to a more sturdy built camera body than the Rebels that I have. I liked the 5 focus points, the ability to select from 3 metering modes(Evaluative, Spot, and Center-weighted average),and the Custom function setting ability, to name but a few of the features offered on this great camera. The only negative I found is the +/- Manual Exposure indicator when using the camera on manual setting, which I have read was due to copyright issues. All in all the camera is a great shooter, and I liked it so much I now have 3 of them. Lol

  Canon EOS-A2 Camera. It

This is an extremely versatile camera. It features multizone focus, and multi mode metering (even includes spot meter option). It has dof preview so that one can estimate bokeh and depth of field. Overall, it is a good camera.

One problem with EOS-A2 cameras. The mode selector wheel is very stiff. And, it breaks on some cameras. Except for this problem, I would have given the camera an Excellent rating. Ask about this before purchasing an A2.

Takes great photos. I am very glad I bought it.

One of the finest camera's Canon ever made. Other than the spring loaded selector dial at the upper
left on the body (sets which mode the camera is in), this is a superb film camera. Multiple modes, easy
to use, multiple focusing zones as well as a grip made to fit in your hand.

Even with gloves on, the camera is easy to operate.

Review created: 10/18/09

shipping took 2-weeks which is fine but the dial to the camera mode is very loose and thereby does not give camera accurate shooting details. Images came out less than accurate as dial rotates too quickly and is loose. I somewhat disappointed and was hoping for a better operational camera. I am very familiar w/ the camera and it has been worn down.

My kid is taking a photo class at school using film and when I went to blow off the dust from my old EOS-AS Canon, it was not working. So asked Canon about how much to fix it, eeee, and then looked on EBay and found this one. So now the kid is taking black and white photos for her class.
Thank's
Roger

I Purchased a Canon A2 camera, it arrived in no time at all. Camera seem to work fine, thanks for the Battery. I thought I bought a Canon A2E, but there's not much difference in the 2 cameras.

Getting more advanced with your 35mm?
Review created: 05/10/09

Wow, this is a killer camera. On my first day of studying it, I adapted to the standard EOS functions once i found them. Some of the options like exposure comp was a little difficult to understand but I figured it out.

it shoots faster than any stock EOS ever even the 1n. The vertical grip on this camera is cool when you need it, and if you leave the on switch by accident, it was easy to mis fire. It was funny though because i was only testing a roll of film and testing different shooting modes and I miss-fired three shots in the blink of an eye. The camera was in high drive mode which shoots at 5fps! I was more happy than anything to know if i need a quick shot of a moving subject, I can get it a few times and even bracket the exposure.

auto serv is cool too. If you set your cam in auto serv mode, and leave it...It will automatically focus on the nearest point in real time. This might be useful for wildlife or something.

bottom line, if you love the EOS system and don't need e-ttl 2 find an A2. For hundreds less, this camera meets the needs of your advanced photographer who doesn't use off camera flash more than 50 feet.
