Altough this camera would have something like 20 years of age, it's still in good shape, every resource is still working, just the display light require a little more pressure over the button, but it's working. Even without all electronic focusing systems of now a days (like 9 or more electronic focusing points), with the apropriate lens, it gets focus real quickly, and you would still have all Canon EF lenses available to use with it. So it really is a bargain.

I bought a EOS 630 back in 1989. It didn't need any repair until the year 2000 and that was dure to the fact that had switched to a Hasselblad and hadn't shot with the 630 for about two years. The shutter was messing up a little bit. But other wise it is a fantastic camera. If you are interested in shooting film you won't find a more solid EOS than this.

Canon EOS 620 One Great Camera

In 1987 I bought a new Canon EOS 620 with all available accessories. It is the best camera I have ever owned. It does a lot that newer more "modern" cameras can't do. Thinking of buying one? Go ahead...you'll be glad you did.

I have owned this camera since it first came out. To many features to talk about but needless to say I have never had any problems with it until about 15 years later.

The First EOS for the Advanced User
Review created: 02/12/08

This model followed the EOS 65O, the 650 was designed and marketed toward the general use market and based on it's success the more advanced and improved version EOS 620 was introduced. It's important to consider that this model was introduced well over 25 years ago so keep that in mind if you are considering one. Use, wear, and condition play an extremely important role if you are going to actually use one. I'd look for an immaculate body only and buy the lenses separately. It's a very important model to add to any collection. It was the first advanced EOS even though the 650 was first overall (The EOS 650 is just a plain jane). Another thing about the 620 is it's very large and heavy in SLR standards. I like this, coupled with a good lens, the weight helps provide someone like me more stability (I have larger hands and longer fingers then the average person). I find it difficult to operate small compact sized cameras of any type, hold them steady, and change modes smoothly. The 620 is a great entry level auto-focus that combines advanced enough features for anyone to step up their skills and not rack their bank account. More importantly with a good clean model you can put more towards lenses, and many will couple with the earlier versions of Canon DSLR's. Of course current Canon lenses with IS (image stabilizer) will work but the IS portion will not. Don't overlook the EOS 630 either, it is the first version of the EOS 1. A lens is the single most effective part of the camera and the 620 allows for some rather spectacular choices.

  Also consider Canon EOS 650
Review created: 05/12/07

This camera is the 'professional' version of the 1st EOS camera, the Canon EOS 650. Of the different features on the two cameras, it's really hard to see what makes one a 'pro' and the other not. In any case, the on-line value of these bodies in good working condition is very low (usually well under $50) and either one makes a super film back up for your EOS digital camera. With cheap adapters you can use virtually any of the manual focus Nikon, screw-mount Pentax (i.e. M42x1), screw mount Leica (M39), and many other lenses in manual mode. Ironically, the one thing that it doesn't make sense to use are the earlier Canon FD lenses that do require optical elements in the adapter to focus to infinity.
