  Great Camera!

Having always been into digital cameras I decided a few years ago it was time to leap into a Digital SLR. Packed this and my film camera and heading deep into the jungles of Central America. This camera is rock solid! Performed beautifully even in 100% humidity. Ended up not even using the film camera once. Who needs the hassle of tranporting film through x-ray machines? Been thinking of upgrading to the 20D but 6.3 megapixels seems to be more than enough to get large professional quality prints, so I upgraded my lenses instead. If you're looking for a great camera look no further than the 10D and save yourself some money- use it for Lenses, A nice flash & most importantly a tripod for low light situtions.

i have to admit, i am only writing this because i am selling one.....but just a friendly piece of advice from someone who knows the camera....when i read the reviews the only complaint i read was focusing problems........well.......after reading the complaint when they use a 400-800mm zoom lens ( which i guarantee is not made by canon! ) it doesn't surprise me.
put a good CANON lens on the 10D and watch it work. granted the 10D is a couple years old technology, but the auto-focus worked just fine on the EOS "FILM" cameras before the digital every came out!
IT IS NOT THE CAMERA......IT IS THE LENS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Had to get one again...

I absolutely love this camera. No bells and whistles... Just a straight forward, no nonsense machine. I've tried so many cameras and also had one of these before. The one, out of all of the others, that I should've kept. This camera offers the most clean, clear, smooth, and grain-free images over any other camera brand I've ever seen. Colors are spot on. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing out there that beats a Canon. That's why I bought another one. I'm keeping this one.

  Canon EOS 10D 6.3 Megapixel
Review created: 06/29/08

Don't be fooled by the lower megapixels. 6.3 for most users is more than you will ever need. If you don't plan on regularly making poster size or bigger prints, this is more than enough camera for you (This is great for upto 8X10 prints). With the availability and use of all of Canon EF lenses, you have almost unlimited choices for zoom levels and budgets. This camera can also hold up to an 8GB CF type I or II memory card which will give you roughly 4000 pictures on the highest jpeg setting. Other than the slower writing times to the memory card this is an excellent camera from Canon especially for the beginner.

  Canon EOS 10D
Review created: 06/03/08

If you want to shoot portraits, sporting events, or items to sell on eBay, then the Canon EOS 10D could be just what you’re looking for. The Canon EOS 10D has a sturdy yet light weight magnesium alloy body that houses very capable electronics. It’s not small and light like your typical point-and-shoot, but it provides you with much more versatility.

In 2003, the Canon EOS 10D was one of the first affordable digital SLRs for the advanced hobbyist at roughly $1500. Today you can own this outstanding camera for much less. Five years later, it is still a very capable camera body.

- Autofocus modes: Fast, Wide-area TTL, 7 focus points, manual or auto selectable
- exposure modes: shutter priority, aperture priority, depth-of-field auto exposure, programmed auto exposure with modes for landscape, macro, night scene, portrait, and sports and full manual
- white balance: auto, six presets, plus manual color temperature
- shutter speeds: 30 to 1/4000 seconds plus bulb
- storage: CompactFlash I and II (microdrive compatible)
- iso sensitivity: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200
- lenses: compatible with Canon EF lenses
- flashs: built-in and hotshoe compatible with Canon EX-series Speedlites (E-TTL auto flash)

The Canon EOS 10D will serve you well in a variety of circumstances and all of your Canon EF lenses and Canon EX flashes will continue to serve in the future should you decide to upgrade later. Overall, an outstanding buy.

  Canon 10D Camera
Review created: 05/05/08

I bought this for a gift for my daughter. I liked the price and the that it was in very good shape after 3-4 years of use. The previous owner described it well and it was in my price range for such a gift.

The transaction was super smooth and I'm sure my daughter will be pleased.

Thanks,

Maineiacbuddy

This camera contains most of the features of the newer Canon SLRs. The price makes it a reasonable candidate for IR conversion.

EOS 10D - Great Bargain DSLR
Review created: 04/13/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Built almost as solid as its "Pro" cousins, the 10D is an excellent "bargain" for a full featured DSLR. Uses all standard EF lenses, it has the 1.6 lens factor common to all APS-C imagers. Anyone who has used a late model Elan, A2, or EOS-1 will be familiar with its operation. Aside from the digital features, the camera has all of the great EOS functions.
While the 10D doesn't have the latest hardware and features of the newest Digital EOS cameras, it represent a real upgrade in camera from Digital Rebel. It's built tougher, has more features, and with a 6 megapixle imager and RAW files it can produce stunning photos.
With prices below $350 for this camera, below $450 with lens, it makes a nice alternative to a Long-zoom digicam.
In fact, aside from the number of pixles, the 10D has everything the later Digital EOS had.

Canon 10d still a good buy
Review created: 04/12/08
by:

I had a Canon 10d when they first came out and was quite impressed with the camera. It took awhile to come on and it was a little slow, but the photos were excellent and I found it dependable in many situations.
My upwardly mobile posterior couldn't resist buying a Canon 30d and I sold my 10d to a friend. He loves it and I miss it, so I went on ebay to buy another. The price was good but direct comparison of the Canon 10d now puts it below the 30d. The newer generation is faster and more responsive to my needs. I don't miss shots waiting for it to come on and the ease of reviewing photos on the camera is much better due to the larger display and immediate clarity of the photos. I'll never be satisfied, 5d here I come!

Review created: 03/05/08

+++++++ POSITIVE

+ PROFESSIONAL body and shutter
this is without new CRAZY Canon marketing strategy (up to 10MPx - what for?,
think it, the sensor size same - the pics of 10D's better!!

+ UNBELIEVABLE SHARP PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with normal setting SHARPER and BETTER picture quality as Canon 30D!!!
Search ... www.fotohelp.eu ... tesztek (tests) soon!
+ PERFECT exposition
+ The small LCD higher contrast, better in sunny days as Canon 30D!!!
+ CHEAP
+ the accessories are good quality and CHEAPER as new digital body
+ with grip you can use slower shutter speed (stable) .. you get +1..2 EV!!!
+ I changed my 30D to this body ---- I am happy!

------- NEGATIVE

- NO ISO level in viewfinder
- little bit slowly START
- too noisy up to 800 ISO
- only 100,200,400,800,1600,3200 ISO, no 640, 320..

  Canon 10d

The Canon 10d is an outstanding introduction to the professoinal family of digital SLR's. First it's a great value at around $300. Remember- it was $2000 a couple of years ago. I will upgrade to a 30d or 40d someday- but the controls and intuitive operation maintains similer throughout the upgrades.

  A Digital Classic!
Review created: 12/16/07(updated 02/18/08)
by:

This camera is a digital classic that only with recent product releases has it been dramatically improved! The build quality and picture quality is superb - it remains my primary camera for travel photography because it is reliable and durable. I own two, purchased on ebay, beccause they were cheap enough to put a prime lense on one and a zoom on the other. This model has also served me well with wedding and portrait photography.
I have yet to be disappointed by this camera - and I have worked with most all of the entry level, prosumer, and pro models from Nikon, Oly, pentax, sony, and canon. All have their respective merits, but the 10D remains a valued favorite which is a deal now on ebay with the 40D coming out. Don't be fooled by the megapixel counts - 6mgs is still enough to give you a quality 11"x17" print!
This camera is a real steal on ebay for the money because you will get prosumer camera quality and controls at less than an entry level price. Compare it with a Nikon D40 - which has the same megapixels and you will be impressed with this "old" camera's build quality and the level of picture quality.

  Canon 10D Digital SLR
Review created: 12/01/07
by:

I bought this body for my daughter, which is still an excellent digital body in todays world of 10+ megapixel selections. At a used price this 6 megapixel body hold a great value, and still takes great photos. I have one that I bought new years ago and I still use it as a backup body. The features on this body and build quality is very good. It offers more than a entry level camera and buying used it definately has more bang for the buck.

  Purchasing a Canon 10D
Review created: 05/24/07
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I really like this camera. It is my first digital slr. I am very happy with nearly all the aspects of it. I was able to get it for about 30% of the origal cost. the picture quality is very good. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get serious about pictures. Of course it doesn't have the highest megapixel count and will only shoot in RAW and JPEG, but I haven't had a need for more megapixels. I've been having trouble with the software, saving RAW images. I would highly recommend.

I bought this as my first DSLR, and have since owned a bunch. This camera is absolutely amazing. The quality of the image is outstanding, and it's built rock solid. Don't get sold by megapixels body weight, its all about whats inside the camera, and this thing makes you look amazing.

Can't recommend it more highly for the price.

Canon 10D - great while it lasted.
Review created: 03/26/07(updated 04/29/07)
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I purchased my Canon 10D shortly after it was first released in May, 2003. First off, let me say that this camera was not without flaws.

Mine was one of the ones that had focusing issues and I had to return it to the factory to have it adjusted, after which it worked great.

I took the camera everywhere I went and for a long time I has more than content. The images were great as long as you shot with an ISO setting no higher than 400. 800 left a lot to be desired and I only used it when I had to.

My final complaint is that the shutter gave out. If you are buying one used keep this in mind. There is a good chance that the shutter will break before it reaches 100K exposures. Inquire how many images your used 10D has fired.

I miss having this camera and would recommend it to the first time DSRL market.
